Kyle M (ag) wrote: A DC Comics animated feature with an average entertaining value and same qualities. However, it can't be like that every time so it's a task to not have the qualities be the same and this film done a successful job of accomplishing such task. The animation and characterization are great as ever, while the final, climatic showdown was mesmerizing. The film also followed the quality of having a nice heart in the genre. Kyle M (de) wrote: This summer sequel may be less than its predecessor because of a purposely-developed character development that was the center of the little negativity, but it does offer more in energy, heart and the coming-of-age message communication of further expressing a teenage life while benefiting from the returning cast's performances and another memorable soundtrack. Crtis W (ag) wrote: This was pretty good. I was completely not expecting the direction that this movie took towards the end; it completely shattered what I thought the movie was ultimately about! I really thought that the theme of honesty was huge in this movie, and it kind of shows what lying can do for, and against, someone. The only issue I had with it was the sympathy that I think they were trying to give to Samuel L. Jackson's character. He almost ruined the interviewer's life; I think it was a little ambitions to try and make the audience feel sorry for him. Other than this and a few slow moments, the movie was good!

Avid C (de) wrote: Slums of Beverly Hills is cooky and touching. The good. Interesting story with a number of surprising twists. Well paced scenario. Nice acting. Funny with a touch of drama. On a totally different vibe from most other productions. The actors. Natasha Lyonne uses her rebellious nature to great effect. Alan Arkin plays the dysfunctional father just right. Marisa Tomei is sweet and totally perfect as the problematic child. The bad. The secondary characters, like the brothers, could have used a little bit more depth. The editing is a bit awkward when it comes to breasts shots, obviously done so they could use body doubles, no subtlety. The ugly. Nothing. The result. An offbeat film that is great for those who like the genre, but would probably be disappointing to the masses.

Stuart K (ag) wrote: After taking a break from films after The Towering Inferno (1974), Steve McQueen saw this film as one of a few comeback films to get him back into the public spotlight. Sadly, this proved to be his penultimate film before he succumbed to Mesothelioma. It's a shame, as this would have been a more fitting final film. Set in 1903, as the Wild West was being tamed at the turn of the 20th Century, this is the true story of frontier scout and tracker Tom Horn (McQueen) who helped with the capture of Geronimo. He drifts around what's left of the Western Frontier, which has changed a lot since his heyday. With work thin on the ground, he finds a job with rancher John C. Coble (Richard Farnsworth), whose cattle has been stolen by rustlers. Horn sets out to investigate, he finds some of the rustlers, but Horn is less than diplomatic in how he deals with them, with a "shoot first, ask questions later" policy, that doesn't go down well with his peers. It gets to the point where U.S. Marshal Joe Belle (Billy Green Bush), who has political aspirations, wants Horn out of the way, and pins the murder of a young boy on Horn. It's a short but effective western. This west is overcast, cold and windswept, but it is well filmed and McQueen gives this man of the Old West charm and tenacity. Even in his dying years, McQueen knew how to draw the punters in

Matthew S (jp) wrote: Klaus Kinski is marvellous in the title role of Herzog's remake of the classic 1920's silent film. He brings an enigmatic, occasionally comical weirdness to the vampire, but is also commandingly terrifying. Bruno Ganz (perhaps best known these days for his unforgettable portrayal of Hitler in "The Downfall") is also brilliant as the gradually deteriorating Jonathan Harker. An atmospheric and spooky film which feels just a little laboured by the end, but which is ultimately satisfying. Evocative, creepy and like most classic horror films, does not rely upon gore or jump scares and is foreboding and ominous in its vision.
