(au) wrote: Paul is in love with two women. One of them is his wife, Adriana, who he has been married to for ten years and has a young daughter with. The other is Raluca, a younger woman, who makes Paul feel young and vibrant. Tuesday, After Christmas tells the story of Paul's relationship with these two woman and his contemplation of who he wants to be with. This is a very honest, genuine depiction of such events. It never feels overly dramatic, and is much more of a slow burn. The film opens with Paul and Raluca, in bed together post-coitus. Its a great way to start off the film because as we watch them lie in bed we begin to realize how much these two characters seem to be in love with one and other. When Paul is with his wife, Adriana, there is a noticeable lack of passion; at least comparatively, but its very familiar. About two thirds through the film Paul does make a decision, and much like everything before it, its very well done. This is a film that some may found slow, but I found its depicition of love and ones ability to fall in and out of it refreshing. Its a really great script too, which even has some great comedic lines to ease the tension. Definitely worth checking out, for anyone who is fan of character studies about relationships.

I also love how Adam (the musician love interest who claims the Ramones were a big influence, yet you can't hear it in his music) only has to play a song to bring her back, but her little brother struggling doesn't. Enough plot holes to think someone shotgun blasted it. Maybe they did.

Initially Aaron thought I wouldn't be interested in watching it and gave me a poor recap on what it was about. I didn't remember it and told him he could watch it without me, but a few minutes into the movie, I caught a glimpse of it and remembered wanting to see it, so I told him to rewind it.According to IMDb, the movie is about: "A worker at a Russian nuclear facility gets exposed to a lethal dose of radiation. In order to provide for his family, he steals some plutonium and sets out to sell it on Moscow's black market with the help of an incompetent criminal."This movie is a lot of things, including: unsettling, sad, funny (in a black humor sort of way), disturbing and touching. I have no idea how accurate any parts of the story are, but it was definitely informative and even fear-inducing to a degree. The plot was outlandish at times, but had good flow and was entertaining. The actors all did terrific jobs, including the supporting actors. I couldn't find fault with anyone in the ensemble and found the main character completely endearing. If that last paragraph doesn't tell you that I think this is worth seeing, then I'll state it plainly for you right here: this movie is worth seeing. Oh, and it's not for children.
