She dies within a year and her children have to come to agreement over the fate of the treasures she owned. The film felt false inasmuch as her children didn't bicker and hold resentments in the way that British families would; perhaps the French really are more civilised, and I didn't feel that it engaged enough upon the very interesting idea of lost memories and secrets.
