Kelly S (mx) wrote: Excellent documentary about one of my favorite musicians. Watching it makes me sad that he's no longer with us. Just imagine the great music he'd be making today.

Nick A (kr) wrote: As someone / an ex-pat /a gwailo (in a effectionate use of the word), who lived / grew up in Hong Kong from 1984 (6 months old)- 2001. This brought me back to a time where I was 13/14 and beginning to look at the world as a teenager does; and how one looks back at that time in their life with, in my case, much affection. So this review is slightly biased. That said, as a big fan of International Film, inparticular Oriental Cinema; I personally see mainland China Mandarin Film as very differant to Hong Kong Island Film and a further distinguishing element is if the film is Mandarin or Cantonese based as all these facts have a specific impact on the film produced as each audience is very different. A further personal attachment to this type of film being my father working in the legal profession meant that I grew up on interesting stories; how much truth in each I could not tell you. I do have some understanding & empathy to the loyalty and respect that runs through the veins of the Cantonese; whether that Bond be via family blood or criminal; there is a certain loyalty and respect that is harder to come by in the Western world. So as a review of the film the only thing I can say is why I gave it 4.5 stars and not 5 and that is this - if this film was a true story or based on one; there would be more bodies just more discreet(in terms of the aftermath/clean up). I will definetly be adding this one to the DVD collection, which has now out grown my video -yes,VHS- collection of international cinema; and let me share with you that is no mean feat!!! Anyone reading this in the UK - Its on BBC I-Player under the film section till Sunday 18th September 2011... Enjoy

Dario R (au) wrote: Lately my film tastes have been changing. I've been enjoying more foreign film; Scandinavian films especially. I'm not sure if it's my desire to travel there that's making me gravitate to these films, but I find them very satisfying and quite enjoyable. They don't seem as generic as American films; don't get me wrong I love American films, but sometimes I find them kind of bland. This film from Denmark is an excellent film that delves deep into the complexities of the family dynamic. There are secrets, illnesses, and struggles between a man's charitable work and his desire to be with his family. Mads Mikkleson (Hannibal) gives and amazing performance, and is becoming one of my favorite actors. The entire cast is wonderful in this film. I know foreign films are my for everyone, but you won't be disappointed of you give this film a shot. Recommend this flick.

Cody C (de) wrote: Does a lot of great stuff but the story kind of falls apart in the third act. Worth watching though.

bob w (gb) wrote: a bit lumpy but well acted. it seemed to be pulled along vs flowing as if ideas were applied chock-a-block fashion. holden and russel have made better movies.

Sam S (it) wrote: Demolition Man may come off as an average action movie at first, but its interesting narrative premise, strong character performances, fun action sequences, and humor make for one of the best action movies of the 90s.

Greg W (ca) wrote: gotta love this aussie comedy

Facebook U (us) wrote: An Australian film that came out of nowhere, it's both surprising and confusing. But you will enjoy the ride. Just don't think too hard or you'll hurt yourself.
