Atlantis, the Lost Continent

A Greek Fisherman brings an Atlantean Princess back to her homeland which is the mythical city of Atlantis. He is enslaved for his trouble. The King is being manipulated by an evil sorcerer who is bent on using a natural resource of Atlantis to take over the world. The Atlanteans, or rather the slaves of Atlantis, are forced to mine a crystalline material which absorbs the suns rays. These crystals can then be used for warmth. The misuse of science has created weapons out of the crystals that can fire a heat ray to destroy whatever it touches.

Steve G (us) wrote: "Point Break" captures the thrill and intensity of a 1990's classic. The plot to "Point Break" is a young "Johnny Utah" portrayed by "Keanu Reeves" joins the "F.B.I." and takes on the new case of a group of 4 bank robbers named the "Ex-Presidents. "Utah's" co-worker "Angelo Pappas" portrayed by "Gary Busey" has a theory that the "Ex- Presidents" are surfers. Once knowing this "Utah" goes undercover to find out who the "Ex- Presidents" really are. The movie opens with "Utah" practicing his shooting while mixed with scenes of people surfing. This is a great opening to the film as it shows what the movie is about. Throughout the movie it shows "Utah" and "Pappas" busting big criminals. The action sequences are extremely entertaining to watch, they make it look like "Utah"" is truly about to get hurt. The film's climax is actually disappointing as it is unentertaining due to the unsatisfactory justice of the antagonist. "Keanu Reeves" isn't one of "Hollywood's" best actors; in fact he receives a lot of hate for this. It doesn't feel like "Keanu Reeves" is truly giving one hundred percent to his role as "Utah". "Reeves" gives the audience a calm performance instead of a strong and angry performance, as he should. In past "Mark Isham" has created thrilling and exciting music for his films and "Point Break" is no exception. The late "Donald Peterman" filmed "Point Break" exceptionally using no close ups or shaking the camera. If you are a person who enjoys 1990's Action movies then I recommend you watch "Point Break" as it has a great plot, thrilling scenes mixed with amazing music. Although the movie is not perfect it has some issues, these being an unentertaining climax, a weak performance from "Keanu Reeves" and a weak death. I give 1991's "Point Break" a 7.5/10.

Andrew L (nl) wrote: After finally seeing it I still wonder what all the fuss is about. The acting is adequate yet nothing special (thankfully recognized by the Oscars). In fact, McAvoy gives a stronger performance than in 'Last King of Scotland'. The story & narrative fails to live up to the films visual beauty & brilliant camera play, yet despite this there are often moments where you feel the director is being too clever for his own good - particularly with the long unedited shot on the beach when the troops are waiting to return home. A dynamic piece of film-making such as that scene should have been used in a movie focussing on the toils of war, not one that uses it as a background to only part of it's story.
