Avalon High

Avalon High

Disney Channel's production of Julie Sherman Wolfe's screenplay adaptation of the popular novel Avalon High by Meg Cabot. Elaine "Ellie" Harrison has just moved from Minnesota to Annapolis, Maryland while her parents take a year long sabbatical to continue their medieval studies in nearby DC. Her new high school, Avalon High, seems like a typical high school with the stereotypical students: Lance the jock, Jennifer the cheerleader, Marco, the bad boy/desperado, and Will, the senior class president, quarterback, and all around good guy. But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be, not even Ellie herself. Eventually, it becomes apparent that Avalon High is a situation where the ancient Arthurian legend is repeating itself. Will, Jennifer, Lance, Marco, and Mr. Morton all correspond to King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, Knight Lancelot, Mordred, and Merlin, respectively.

A high-school student believes that her new classmates are reincarnations of King Arthur and members of his court. Now her mission is to solve the school's mystery before Mordred wins again. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Matt H (us) wrote: Good legal drama, interesting story/background. Gets a little too melodramatic as it goes along, but overall is very satisfying.

Chris E (nl) wrote: We saw this the play in New York with Nina Arianda and Wes Bentley, and it was electric, athletic, and brilliantly acted. Seigner can't pull off the roll. She doesn't have the "switch" between characters Arianda had, and Polanski takes the play off into a weird direction at the end that made us call "red" and stop watching it. Polanski is a darling of the critics but doesn't cut the mustard here.

Steve W (nl) wrote: David Chiang is rather joyless in the lead role, so it makes for a less charming character. Despite being a martial arts expert, Liang is poor, thin, but principled. With his trusty horse, he wanders looking for a job. An engaged couple who must transport a large shipment of silver are in need of help, with their Uncle In no longer a kung fu expert. There's not much going in this movie, as the love triangle goes nowhere, characters don't ask for help (theme), but ultimately the ending amounts to nothing and this martial arts film left me cold. Despite having Chang Cheh at the helm, and Ti Lung co-starring, Have Sword, Will Travel is a bit light on the storytelling and the film suffers for it.
