Based on the 90s video game, they switch the story up with the mother bringing the daughter to Silent Hill rather than the father to provide a more accepted emotionally dramatic effect to the film. The terror of the film lies within the story as when one delves deeper into Silent Hill they realize that the devil is holding souls in there for their dark pasts. The mother sees what appears to be her daughter running around Silent Hill desperately trying to catch up to her to only realize that she is being guided by none other than pure evil.
