Sheila M (ru) wrote: Really important movie about how the war affected one young man, who enlisted on Sept. 13th. On his 5th day in Iraq, he was shot "like a fish in a barrel" while riding unprotected in the back of an open, unarmored 2-ton dump truck. The movie details his horrific physical and emotional struggles to acclimate to life with all of his limitations. A really moving film. One everybody should see.

Nathan B (nl) wrote: A pathetic attempt to frighten or scare. I waited the whole movie to get scared and then the credits began.

John B (gb) wrote: Nice interesting gender switching tale here that is utterly thought provoking. No one other than Tilda Swinton could make it work as well as it does.

Spookie M (nl) wrote: I remember this movie being awesome i need to see it again.

Bengel W (us) wrote: The scenery of the Australian outback is photographed with the human eye giving the framing allowing some of the spirit to come forth. Paul gives a unique and humorous look at the man of the outback that has been softened for the film. The aboriginal spirit however, allows the true essence of Australia to come forward in a beautiful rugged and primitive homecoming. Nibbles: Violet Crumble.

Gordon S (mx) wrote: a kid fights back cute lil flick... I liked shelley long in this one (which is usually don't)

Caleb M (nl) wrote: A very poorly made film with a message that doesn't feel shoved down your throat, but doesn't manage to engage you at all. This film is just so poorly made, it looks worse than a home movie drawn out to 90 minutes.

Stefanos T (gb) wrote: The exquisite performances by the love triangle and also by the protagonists friend make this film noir such an enthralling and enchanting experience.

Alex T (us) wrote: "Summer" tells the story of Tom's (Gordon-Levitt) struggle to figure out why his ex left him. Unfortunately, you can see why from the start: He's entitled, childish and hard to root for. Deschanel's title character is at least likable, but the movie is utterly unconcerned with what's going on in her head. She's just a backboard for Tom's self pity. The nonlinear narrative technique was cool, but it required energy I wasn't up to putting in for a protagonist who is an asshole.

Martin T (kr) wrote: Steiger has been praised to high heaven for this performance, but I thought it was rather spotty. At first, it's a masterpiece of restraint. As the story unfolds and he begins to unravel, however, the hamminess creeps in. The other actors are barely worth mentioning, ranging from fair to terrible. And I thought the depiction of the concentration camps underplayed the horror far too much. Otherwise, it's pretty good. Lumet's direction is gritty and bold, especially in those rapid edit flashbacks.
