Carl M (ag) wrote: One family's trip into the wilderness turns into their worst nightmare when several other campers are found torn apart in the forests of New Jersey. Could the legend of the Jersey Devil really be true, or is some other force responsible for the mysterious deaths in THE BARRENS? Darren Lynn Bousman presents his take on the Jersey Devil myth in this bloody new thriller, which is no less forgettable than the other attempts that have already been made on the story. The main issue lies in the over-dramatized lead performance by Stephen Moyer, who becomes increasingly unbearable as father figure Richard Vineyard. None of the snotty teenagers in the supporting cast help to make things any better. Bousman also adds several irrelevant twists that only serve to confuse and complicate an otherwise simple plot. When the creature is finally revealed, it looks like a mangled mess of animal parts and shabby animatronics. Even the flashy editing gives a sense of cheapness to the look of the film, which is quite unusual for the otherwise talented director. Unless you prefer for your creature features to be filled with annoying characters instead of either frights or action, we suggest you avoid THE BARRENS.

Matthew W (gb) wrote: Good thing about Netflix is you find movies you might not have other wised watched. this is one in that category. I really enjoyed this quirky romcom about two lost souls finding each other. great performances and a very enjoyable movie.

Michael R (ag) wrote: James Wan is on the top of his game with this well made ghost story. He continues to create better and better films, and bring some respect to studio horror. It's well acted, well paced and has some genuine scares that have been lacking in modern horror movies.

Ha H (it) wrote: The story was surprisingly good. Even the music at times showed seriousness and made the film more dramatic. The problem is the Bollywood musical scenes that destroyed the film. Even though it was as long as a Lord of the Rings film, Pyaar keeps you watching. I would love to see an American version that doesn't have terrible Chuck E. Cheese music videos in the middle of it.

Heather M (fr) wrote: This was not a very good story and the characters were all over the place. The worst part was watching Harrison Ford on screen with his 'constipated face'. I know he was dealing with serious stuff, but the furrowed brow and gruff talking was really annoying.

Peter P (ag) wrote: Rosewood is based on the true story of a black town that is basically destroyed because of one white woman??s lie. I know it is based on an actual event, but I am not sure how much of what is seen on the screen is accurate, but the racism side of it I have no doubt is. Saying that, the film itself looks good, the acting works well and it has a decent pace. It is a really hard movie to watch in parts, but it needed to be told and I think John Singleton did a good job. On a side note, I watched this on a DVD that I took from the library, and I noticed that it was on a double sided disc (on another side note within this side note, whoever thought of double sided DVD's should be dragged out in the street and shot.), but I didn't think much about it, but for some reason the movie stopped half way through, and for a second I was ticked off, cause I wanted to see the end, but I tried flipping the DVD and low and behold, the rest of the movie was on the other side, there was no menu, it just started up where it finished on the other side. I have never seen this before, so I just thought it would mention it. Not that anyone is still reading this review; it is more just for my piece of mind that I had to get that out there. Ahh, that??s better.

Steve W (mx) wrote: One of Almodovar's tamer films, The Flower of My Secret is a very straight forward movie. Leo is a writer who finds her crativity wane in her romance novels when her marriage collapses. She finds solace in a new love. The end. There's not a lot of conflict or heated scenes, so the result is a very straight forward movie.

Ilsa W (ru) wrote: Terrible but at times so terrible it was actually very funny. Tyne acting was pretty awful but the two main college guys were hilarious at times. I got the feeling most of the cast were there to have a good laugh and it showed. It also made it surprisingly enjoyable!
