Baikonur

“Whatever falls from heaven, you may keep.” So goes the unwritten law of the Kazakh steppes. A law avidly adhered to by the inhabitants of a small village, who collect the space debris that falls downrange from the nearby Baikonur space station. The last two youthful members of the village are the radio operator Iskander, known as Gagarin, and the spirited Nazira. While Nazira finds it increasing difficult to conceal her love for Iskander by means of her unconventional behaviour, Iskander is evidently not only crazy about Baikonur and the vastness of outer space, but also deeply smitten with the beautiful French astronaut Julie Mahé, whose journey to the stars he wistfully follows on television.

Helena M (es) wrote: There is a lot of injustice in this world as shown in this movie.

Sergio M (it) wrote: i loved it, but whoever described it as a COMIC masterpiece is the biggest sadist in the world. it's true that you accasionally chuckle at the grumpiness of some characters, especially at the beginning, but as the film goes on and you see the desperation of it all, how this man needs to be operated on and no-one wants or is able to do it, your smile kind of freezes and you start thinking about how the elderly are treated in hospitals, how lonely some people live, how dependant they are and still have no-one... i can't understand how someone can describe this as comic. but excellent performances, especially by the main two characters, and some really beautiful shots. a fantastic movie.

Matt R (gb) wrote: I wish I was around when this was around.

Timothy E (gb) wrote: Another fine example of wasted potential. Ultimately, this movie's greatest failing was the child actor, because film studios still can't seem to grasp that kids don't want to watch action movies about kids. The stylization in that of the series is also detramental to its box office appeal, however, what's worse is that the fight sequences are actually more dull than those seen in the show.

Justin W (jp) wrote: take the script of 'mad max' to a mentally challenged school and have the students re-write the script while you induce seizures on them as they write it and you've got this film. it's absolutely awful in every sense of the word...but, admittedly, it can be very entertaining to sit back and make fun of pretty much everything in the film. in other words, it's a bad film...but in the good sorta way.

peter h (gb) wrote: one of the more original post halloween era slasher flick. Strange behavior or its orginial title Dead Kids is a run of the mill horror flick with a small town terriories by the murders of teenagers but its not one killer in this film its about three diffrent killers. the one thing which lifts this film is due to the presents of louise flecter.

Kurt M (mx) wrote: Vincent Price gives one of his best performances as a stage actor who seeks revenge against the critics who snubbed him. A delightfully wicked horror film touched with satire and laced with black humor.

Eric H (br) wrote: Disjointed and poorly-paced. Plenty of action, but the film has a sadistic edge, which is quite disturbing.

Torion O (mx) wrote: This film's only weak spot is that it may be a bit long.
