(ru) wrote: An anthology of horror stories on a collection of old VHS cassettes stolen by a crazy group of disaffected young Americans. The anthology angle adds to the attention keeping of this film with a good 5 or 6 stories being told of about 20 minutes each.A warning. This film is very gory and not for the squeamish. Surprisingly good for a Sunday afternoon viewing. One of the stories involves Skype like footage featuring some geek who looks menacingly like an ex UK Conservative Chancellor. The film uses camcorder like footage like many other horror films recently.

Many important plot points seem rushed, lightly explained, and unexplored. There is one particular scene of sweet poetic justice, though.

The films use of the end of the world makes you see what is truly important than self consuming and opens your mind to what you would honestly do if you knew it was the end. I loved the use of James and Roses sudden relationship show that still being a human being and knowing what truly matters most can be all you need. The actor and actress do a good job bringing the best out of the other just like the characters. Most people would hate the ending but I find it poetic and emotional. I must have cried through the really hard parts of this film and I'm happier for it. A beautiful, yet umcomprising take on an old story. "B+" is my final grade and I fully recommend this to everyone.
(br) wrote: A young Johnny Depp and Rob Morrow really show some acting chops with a typical 80s script that offers very little in the way of actual plot and substance. The cast is surprisingly strong for the style of film with Depp and Morrow surrounded by the likes of Hector Elizonodo. Private Resort is better than the plethora of films dealing with the same subject matter but would have been better with an original plot and some actual substance.
