(fr) wrote: It was alright, don't expect an amazing romantic comedy which breaks boundaries, makes you laugh out laid incredibly insanely or changes the goalposts come the end of it. It's a nice film, sweet storyline and good interplay between the characters - but it never really makes you laugh properly or builds to anything unexpected. Good for a Bank Holiday monday afternoon, but not one to buy or watch over and over again, despite Reese Witherspoon being ever loveable.

(de) wrote: A heartwarming film that is wonderful in its simplicity. People and their, lonely and tragic, lives take centre stage in this fascinating movie about a group of people who attend weekly Italian classes yet come away with so much more: friendship, love and a sense of purpose. An exceptionally simple film in terms of directing and cinematography, but anything but simple in its exploration of the lives of people.

(ca) wrote: "Terror Vision" is one of those intentionally bad science fiction/horror movies in the vein of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes." Fact of life: Those types of movies are almost never funny. And while "Terror Vision" doesn't really break that trend, I enjoyed it enough. There are some nice monster effects -- and this was made in the 80s when such things were done with foam rubber and slime and therefore awesome -- and a lot of gross out humor a la early Peter Jackson movies. It's worth a watch, but I won't be getting a tribute to it tattooed across my back or anything.
(br) wrote: Brilliant ! Watch it every chance I get, and always find something new. Much better than the garbage produced in the past decade. Good acting by Alda, and especially by Ms. Burstyn.

(jp) wrote: The tense final 20 minutes can't make up for the fact that the rest of the movie is mind numbingly dull.
(fr) wrote: This movie stars Jim Carrey in the titular role as a private investigator who is hired to find missing pets. When a simple pet case becomes a bigger conspiracy, Ace only has a few short weeks to solve the mystery before the big Superbowl. This movie holds a special place in a lot of people my age's hearts because they grew up with it, loving Carrey's over-the-top performance. I never saw this movie as a kid. Instead of Ace Ventura, my Jim Carrey memories include Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty. Honestly, this movie doesn't do it for me. Jim Carrey has made a career of overacting, and, while this isn't as bad as The Mask, it isn't anything to write home about. The premise is innocent enough, but the sexual jokes just didn't do anything for me save for the climactic crime-solving scene. I will say that it's a harmless family movie that audiences will enjoy if only for nostalgia's sake, but if you haven't seen either Ace Ventura movie, you aren't really missing much. Side note: I love seeing real celebrities play fictional versions of themselves, and Dan Marino in this movie is just fun.
(jp) wrote: This is probably more enjoyable to watch if you are a kid, as an adult its pretty boring and long. The graphics are horrible, granted it is the 60s, but a lot of the movie is singing but not very good songs. I usually like musicals and movies with animals but this fell rather flat.
(fr) wrote: Cop car is a fun little indie thriller that features some good performances, cinematography and script. Kevin bacon does a really good job as well as the two young boys who all play the leads. My biggest gripe with the film is the ending which didn't really do it for me in the film does have a few little plot holes in it. But if you can overlook that it's a fun little thriller.
