Beauty and the Beast

As a merchant sets off for market, he asks his three lovely daughters what they would like as a present upon his return. His youngest daughter, who he adoringly calls Beauty, replied. "All I'd like is a rose you've picked specially for me." Remembering his promise to Beauty he plucks a rose, enraging the owner of the rosebush, a fearsome boarlike beast who inhabits the nearby castle. The Beast agrees to spare his life, but on one condition, that he brings him the daughter for which he plucked the rose.

A young, beautiful girl awaits the day she will be killed after having asked for a most humble gift. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Mikhail B (us) wrote: A documentary about African lions, and a particular lioness. She has to come across a river together with her two cubs, and feed on a new prey - buffalo, and fails to do so. The episode when she had to abandon her wounded child is very hard to bear. It's a touching story beyond simple documenting of animal life.

Daniel D (ca) wrote: *may contain small spoilers*Palm d'Ore winner, Taste of Cherry, is a profound story about a young man who wished to end his life, but needs some help in doing so. Despite not being in one stationary setting, this film takes place in mostly one location, his car. It's not immediately clear what his intents are, even though one could predict it, there's also the possibility of him being a hit man. But he's not, he's just ready to end his life premature. The film grapples with deep ethical questions, and how much man is willing to stick to his roots. Some would say they'd never partake in assisted suicide no matter the money involved, and some the opposite. Similarly when the opportunity approaches it's much different than just having it as a rhetoric. The film is head deep in symbolism, and despite not much being said, everything is clear. The ending didn't really connect with me. Like Close-up (also directed by Kiarostami) the ending is up to many interpretations, but I think one thing is clear, it shows at the end it's a film. A reenactment or just a crew member remembering his past, I'm not sure.

Stephanie C (kr) wrote: An amazingly good adaptation that modernizes the tale while retaining the original dialogue and themes. Patrick Stewart is marvelous as both the Ghost and Claudius and David Tennant is simply stunning as the distraught Prince of Denmark. Shot on location rather than on the stage, security cameras, video recorders, two-way mirrors, and so much more add a wonderful element to the epic tale of madness and revenge. P.S. The current description on FB for the film is wrong. Richard Burton is not in this adapation.

Sylvester K (gb) wrote: The grim tone was stripped away in favour of adventure comedy. Max now arrives at a seedy trading centre controlled by Tina Turner who could not act, then he was cast out to a town of survivors of plane crash. I enjoyed the concept but the change in tone was a really bad move. The survivors of plane crash forming a colony was a really neat concept though, I am sure Fallout series has taken that element into the game as well.

Urban M (nl) wrote: Bronson is a two-man-show: The first is Tom Hardy playing the titular character as intimidating, nihilistically funny, psychologically interesting and charismatic as humanly possible, and he carried me viewer through the movie as a result. The other is Refn who on the one hand definitely makes interesting points on the glorification of violence and what it creates plus conveying Bronson's repetitious life devoid of any sense of time. On the other hand, he has so much confidence in his vision that, despite being great on a technical level, he often puts message over watchability, beating his points in the ground, bombarding the senses and alienating the audience more than intended. When all is said and done, though, Bronson is worth the hard watch if alone for Hardy's performance.
