Matthew C (es) wrote: The critics got this one wrong. The complex maze of PTSD and the mental health of individuals enlisting in the armed forces is a topic that has been thrust upon us over the last decade. It is a matter that we as a nation can not ignore. "Man Down" could easily be the real life events of a combat vets living nightmare. Maybe the film contains flaws but the content is unmistakably raw in its attempt to bring to light the trauma inflicted by war. The film is a must see. Le Beouf once again becomes his character in another outstanding performance.

Alec B (it) wrote: Its unfortunate that the problems between Russell and the cast while filming and his recent switch to more "awards friendly" fare have almost eclipsed this movie entirely. I think out of all of the films made about/during the post 9/11 era in America "I Heart Huckabees" is the only film that specifically addresses the philosophical concerns people had about their existence and does so in a way that isn't exploitative or easy.

The ending could have been less ambiguous, but it is supposed to be like that to not seem "rigged" and "clichd." It is among the more realistic romance film in a long time. The chemistry was so above average that it actually makes one give a quack on these fictional characters and their issues. Like Crazy accurately show what you have to give up for a long distance relationship. Even when tensions rise with you lover.I will say that it is hard to hear at times. They whisper so much you have to struggle to hear. But it shows it is realistic enough to not talk so loudly to someone sitting right next to you.
