Joe M (br) wrote: It was sort of all over the place...too many conflated characters (no Beaker) and the music out of chronological order BUT ... captured the man pretty well. He is my Christian Hero, he had all the same problems I have and stood up on stage and told you about them.

Timbo M (nl) wrote: Good plot, good script, good acting, good locations, good camera work, good lighting. For me the only thing that lets this film down is the sound. No offence to Mark Verner if he is responsible, but some of the dialogue is softly spoken and ruined in some places by the morose and seemingly never ending soundtrack. Don't get me wrong, the music is good and appropriate in places, but it just seems omnipresent. There's no light and shade with it. This could really do with a re-edit, dropping out the music all together in some patches. Let's hear the dialogue and emotion eh?The final scene probably sums it up for me, and I realise this is probably done on a relatively small budget; shot in a small room with hard walls there's way too much ambient reverb. Come on guys, a few old curtains from a charity shop hung out of shot and you've killed the hideous reverb without the need for an expensive overdub.Rant over, I did really enjoy the film. If you can get past the sound quality, which in all fairness is not all that bad, you've got a great movie. Well done Perry Bhandal. I like films that don't end with an obvious twist or a deus ex.

Stijn v (ru) wrote: Pierce Brosnan is cast as the famous spy and Bond returns to the big-screen in GoldenEye. GoldenEye opens with a huge action-sequence and Brosnan already shows of that he is excellent in the role of Bond, James Bond. Brosnan is very convincing in his action-scenes, but also manages to be very seductive and sexy. Brosnan shags the brainy Natalya Simonova and the Russian Xenia Onatopp. Xenia is played by the Dutch Famke Janssen and makes for a very vicious and sadistic villainess. Janssen is complete scene-stealer and she lights the screen when she appears on it. The cast is further completed by Sean Bean, Robbie Coltrane, Alan Cumming and Judi Dench. Dench is also a stand-out character and her chemistry with Brosnan is amazing. GoldenEye is directed by Martin Campbell and Campbell brings a mysterious sphere into the movie. Campbell also provides killer action-scenes and this is mostly because of the great chorography. The tank chase sequence in St. Petersburg is very good. The movie also benefits from the amazing performances of the cast. Eric Serra's soundtrack is disappointing, but it isn't a big flaw. GoldenEye is a very good starting point for Pierce Brosnan as Bond and gets every element of the Bond-formula right. GoldenEye provides us with thrills, beautiful girls and villainous liars: just what we can expect from a James Bond-movie.
