Not as peppy as say "Topkapi" but a fun little film that has it's own rewards. The story is really not all that clever, but charmingly subdued performances by Ustinov, Maggie Smith (strangely playing a sex pot, when I'm normally used to seeing her as an old lady) and the very funny Bob Newhart. Charming Peter Ustinov romantic comedy involving Ustinov as a con man attempting to embezzle a million pounds from a corporation using advanced 1960s computer technology

So All Dogs Go to Heaven is ok in parts but is largely rudimentary as a whole. Also, the voice acting is fairly good, with Burt Reynolds providing a good lead and Judith Barsi providing excellent work in her supporting role, creating a sweet and innocent character that is really easy to sympathise with. The designs for the characters are original and the drawn animation is pretty decent, and the colour pallet is very good because All Dogs Go to Heaven even maintains good colour during visually darker scenes and has a consistently bright feel to it. But elements from All Dogs Go to Heaven are ok. It just lays bare as a shortcoming of it, and considering many of the characters move a lot faster this time, it's not that appealing that the movement doesn't look good. Frankly the animation quality doesn't transcend his previous effort, The Land Before Time. The quality of the animation also was a little rough and at times the images moved across the screen a little too quickly for viewers to pick up on things. Either that or the musical numbers could just as easily have been completely omitted from All Dogs Go to Heaven. The issues with every song are different, except that the lyrics are consistently poor with all of them. Someone should have told them to add in a few more words or rhyme a few. They are also stale, repetitive and boring. They are the most thinly written songs I've ever heard and are below pathetic and cliche. Kuenster are pathetic. J. The musical numbers in All Dogs Go to Heaven Charlie Strouse and T. Would you believe that it's the songs performed by its characters. But that's not the main issue. It had too many story elements, none of which it stuck to or explored and instead tried to cram everything in there which resulted in a shoddy narrative with mostly forgettable characters. But I found myself somewhat robbed by All Dogs Go to Heaven because of how good it could have been in its story about a girl's friendship with a bad dog, but instead it became a disjointed story which substituted magical storytelling for a light approach to Heaven, death, violence, drinking, smoking, gambling, demons and Hell without giving much credence to the idea of mixing a kid-friendly concept with the magical concept of Heaven. All Dogs Go to Heaven looked great on the surface being a magical story about Dogs which featured the voice talents of Judith Barsi

Well acted, but in the end, too long. Sweet story, very predictable, I don't know why they saw the need to intersperse this sci-fi fantasy crap

Regardless, it's a good movie if you're looking for visuals and a moment in the lives of people from other parts of the world, but it doesn't feel too new, doesn't really convey any sort of message, and isn't necessary viewing. Or maybe "Content People". "Satisfied People" might have been more appropriate. I didn't really get the title "Happy People". I didn't really feel one way or another about the people presented in the movie, but did enjoy seeing the companionship between the hunters and their dogs. I watched it more for the scenery and visuals, which did not disappoint

The perfect example of what a film should never be: too pretentious for its own good
