(gb) wrote: It follows the standard sports drama formula and uses all the cliches, but I didn't mind it. The main kid was kind of obnoxious. Otherwise, it was decent for a low budget direct-to-video movie. (First and only viewing - 7/10/2015)

Moments of beauty, but the film doesn't capture life in Hong Kong so much as what Hong Kong is like to an outsider. As a result, I felt as though I was kept at a distance for the entire film - a tourist, when I wanted to feel as though I lived there.

And now nothing and no one can prevent the ultimate disaster."Great special effects and storyline about a commando unit who rescues a famous reporter and her cameraman all the while fighting off a horde of New Guinea zombie tribes. Some of the best scenes in any zombie movie. When one tribe is having a mass funeral the dead loved ones come back alive to taste flesh, causing the commandos to retreat further into the jungle.

It shows a different kind of terror film from the company, and they should have done more like this, but it's not perfect. Set in Austria in the 19th Century, it has a brother and sister, Emil (Shane Briant) and Elizabeth (Gillian Hills) who are locked up in a house by their father Baron Zorn (Robert Hardy), after his wife killed herself and put a curse on their children, the brother and sister have to be kept apart, as they have an unnatural incestuous desire towards one another. :O But, Elizabeth finds herself attracted to local boy Carl Richter (Paul Jones from Manfred Mann), and the local doctor Falkenberg (Patrick Magee) has been treating Zorn for hallucianations, and he soon discovers what he's doing. It's a very slow movie, and that's a problem, for the first hour or so, not much happens, but once it actually shifts into gear it gets interesting, it's just a shame the rest of the film wasn't more like this. It's very unpleasant, but it has a good cast to it's name. This is one in need of a remake.
(it) wrote: When you watch this movie (yes you should watch it) just keep in mind any themes that occur throughout the movie, because that will ultimately lead to the desired effect of the movie. It's not too complicated, just think about it a bit before dismissing it. Mirage explores the tormented life of a Macedonian boy and the way he deals with his problems. It's a really well done film, but quite the downer. I'd say it's even more depressing than "The Hours" with just as much touching, which is the main distinction of the film. Nothing is particularly special besides the emotions it evokes. The acting, the main character being a child, could be considered well done in terms of children acting, I suppose.

In this very brutally honest feature, we follow a dog on how it is forbidden to enter any public place in town as he searches for his previous owner. This is a very sad film at it's core, but a beautiful one as well. Very well-drawn, very well-scripted for the film that it is, and characters that will put a smile on your face, this second Charlie Brown feature, "Snoopy, Come Home," is one for the ages. I highly recommend it to any fans of these characters or any parents looking to show their kids a cartoon with so much more to offer than nonsensical scenes. A terrific film for everyone!
