To this day I am still naming pets after characters in this story. Saw this as a kid and loved it, motivated me to read the book which was even better

like most films, its historical efficacy may be somewhat flawed, but so are many history books. a truly noble film that is lost among the heaps of lessor works. the score was magnificient. one of the first epic movies i saw

Either way, it's definitely an interesting watch. Like Necromantik, you can't really tell if it's art or just trash. It's kind of like Necromantik (both as a movie and with the music). It's too jarring and a true punk score or hard rock music would have lifted this movie to cult classic status. My only big criticism is more with the soundtrack. It's like being at a nightclub on drugs, where it may or not be a good time, but it's definitely a trip. None of that matters though, as this movie is all about the costumes and eccentricity of the film. The acting varies, with the lead being great, but others (like the German scientist) being horrific like he was picked up off the street. The story makes no sense and is more like random things happening just for the sake of random. The plot is horrible. You would never watch a movie like this for the plot. A forgotten cult gem

Not awfully bad but as some critics said, HK should still stay away from science fiction movies. But nonetheless, the action sequels are still worth watching. Feels like more can be done to the story and characters' buildup. The whole movie doesn't have a focus - you don't know if you are watching science fiction, action, romance or comedy

one of the greatest stand up acts ever

Probably the best short film, I've ever seen. One of Roman Polanski's short films, this is highly entertaining, silly, and somewhat confusing, but all in good fun

Great for laughs, typical storyline. A gay American Pie sequel

The book shined a bright light on sex trafficking long before the general public knew about America's dirty little secret. One of the dancers in the film worked on the book and disappeared after it came out. Years and years ago I bought the movie Red Light: Inside the Sex Industry, which really turned my whole world upside down and started my interest in working with and counseling sex workers. The one things that caught my attention was the story of the missing woman. I'm not quite sure what her point was with the film, but it was a good POV into the complex feelings dancers have (I assume). The sound quality was pretty bad, but the cinematography was 100% 90s art house so that was expected. I watched this movie on Netflix streaming about the life of dancers at regular and lower end clubs in the NY/NJ area in the late 90s by the looks of things. It is amazing how life will always come full circle when you least expect it
