A good balance between being funny, being serious, and being charming., without too much of neither of those. The main couple (Brosnan and Dyrholm) is charming together, making me happy about them together.

Chris M (br) wrote: This well-made, well-acted, well-shot film is gritty, deliberately paced and has something to say about the bleakness of declining steel-mill towns, the insidious pervasiveness of drugs and crime, and the impact of war on returning Veterans. But somehow it's less than the sum of its parts. The individual character stories overwhelm rather than illuminate the broader themes, which means it will not live long in the memory. There's a stellar cast acting their socks off here - Christian Bale is especially terrific, and if you like your Woody Harrelson as a Backwoods version of Rampart, you'er in for a treat. But, but but... if I was going to recommend how you should spend a couple of hours, it would be to watch the first 2/3 of The Deer Hunter - by which point you'd want to watch the final hour as well. This film is so indebted to The Deer Hunter in story, setting, tone and even specific scenes (hunting a deer, PTSD, lost love) it's almost a remake. And that inspiration and cast nearly make this a very good film. But not quite.

Aysha R (us) wrote: Great cast line up. Another post 9/11 tale of woe, quite a different direction for bollywood with the thriller/suspense genre working quite well, and not a bad plot. Quite watchable,l but not if you're depressed!!!

Scott A (ca) wrote: OMG, this was so horrible it actually got me laughing...a lot. Where to begin on this turd. The shark footage was awful. And I read that they stole it from other B-Movie shark films. And the effects, minus the Aliens...yes Aliens, is really fake looking for the most part. You can flatly see the underwater stuff is mostly done with miniatures. The pretty bad. Just when it can't get any worse, a nutbag is brought on board and starts going crazy shooting everyone. 'Parker Lewis' is pretty awful in his over acting, but Vanessa Angel is trying...her dialogue is just rotten. The plot is pretty much man eating sharks everywhere, so every few minutes someone decides to go out in the water, Angel screams GET OUT and the sharks eat them. Angel must say GET OUT 50 times. And the whole opening is totally ripped off of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS.Yes it's super awful, but it has killer sharks and it was awesomely awful!

Zico L (es) wrote: Simple yet moving. Ellen Page is wonderful! And Sandra Oh - what can I say - quirky and quick witted, reminds me of her role as Christina in Grey's Anatomy.

Justen L (nl) wrote: It's hokey, cooky, goofiness takes away all of the elements of a potentially interesting storyline.

Galen F (mx) wrote: I like the movie. It harkened back to the old 40s movies with their charmingly implausible plots that you could sit back for a little while and just enjoy the story.

Michaela B (mx) wrote: I don't know.. I think I like Barbara Streisand, and it had its moments. But it was overall boring.

Katharine H (de) wrote: This movie is a damn joke but so funny. I don't know how this film could've been made in earnest.

John R (de) wrote: 141231: Lee Van Cleef, the most stoic gunfighter ever. Or at least the most stoic, Spaghetti gunfighter ever. Enjoyed this film quite a bit. Typical messy fare but fun nonetheless. The Saxon brothers' firearms really caught my eye, especially at the end. A gold SAA! Cool. Now I want one. Of course, none of those fancy revolvers stood up to an old blued double action. Perhaps the double action enhances your speed (trying not to give away any of the story). If you're like me, you'll find yourself questioning the ethics, or perhaps hypocrisy, of this story and some characters. Well worth watching if you're a western fan.

Sarah R (au) wrote: I like that Fred and Ginger don't fight in this movie...they leave that to Irene and Randolph.

Samantha P (nl) wrote: Amusing. Marion Davies is great. Yay for TCM for playing some silent films.

Vasco M (ru) wrote: Big daddy sets its tone from the first minute and keeps it throughout. It's a very even movie from start to finish, and while there is potential and a good cast attached to the project, there aren't any significant high and lows to make it feel as if anything happened other than for the sake of happening, especially during its rushed resolution.

Tom S (mx) wrote: It was fun to watch but not a memorable move. It is on the highend of a science fiction B movie.
