Matt G (es) wrote: Among the best of the Bechedel-test-destroying Tinker Bell saga. Tinker learns of another world of fairies that she never knew existed in this great mixture of colorful world-building and fun spirit. The stakes are strong, the emotions are felt, and the end product is just plain lovely.
Grant S (gb) wrote: Had potential, but ended up missing the mark, by far. The director tries to be Quentin Tarantino in the witty dialogue, but it just comes off lame. He also tries to remake Natural Born Killers (which Tarantino wrote) but, even though NBK was hardly a masterpiece, this doesn't come close. Even when the writer and director try to be original, with the ending, it was contrived and made no sense with regard to the rest of the plot. Avoid.

Seth H (br) wrote: This western is often contrived and hurt by very poor execution, especially at the crux of the movie. Brosnan does well, though; and the movie is beautifully gritty.
Thomas L (ag) wrote: Anything with Joan Plowright can't be all bad. Here she's a widow taking up residence in a hotel just to prove to herself that she can be independent. While she loved her man and still grieves him, she also wants to enjoy not being someone's wife, daughter, mother, etc. And then comes Ludovic to make everything complicated. I wish we'd gotten to know his backstory a tad more, although that one scene with his mom finding a kindred spirit in Mrs. Claremont was pretty affecting. It's also interesting how Britain's class structure survives even in a rundown hotel. When Mrs. Palfrey starts passing off Ludo as her grandkid Desmond, her standing in the joint goes way up. This is a pleasant, unassuming little story about how even two ostensibly opposite souls can form a solid bond of friendship. Cast is terrific all around.
