Other than a one dimensional crazy older brother the characters were well developed. This is a film that will stay with me a long time.
(ca) wrote: Simple execution with a wide array of characters and complemented with repetitive but effective motifs, Summer Hours is an exposition of the reality of the ever-changing unsentimental society we live in. There was no dull moment but there was no lead-up or hype-down throughout the cinematic experience. Everything was pretty direct-to-the-point and work for the purpose of the film as art. From a medical student's point-of-view, this is good material for teaching in family medicine.
(au) wrote: this is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for change! Some of the acting is pretty dour. Global warming meets B-movie histrionics in this made-for-TV style disaster flick about the drowning of London.

(ru) wrote: yeah ummm...dont know what it was going for..but i didnt get it..im sure all the actors participated in it as a favour to hugh jackman since his wife directed it...but theres no semblance to this at all..none of thme link together..some have no point at all...i get the symbolism in some of them but mostly just a waste of time..i was pissed that i wasted an hour and a half on it...only saving grace was a bit of hugh jackman (like 5 minutes) but thats why im awarding it 1 and a half stars lol

(jp) wrote: This isn't a case where the movie "woulda," "coulda," or "shoulda" been better. Colombiana was doomed to mediocrity from the start. There's not an original figurative bone in its literal 35mm body, and when the shooting script is lifted off the scrap heap of cinema clich, the movie just doesn't stand a chance. Director Olivier Megaton's film is polished and slick; it's obvious much care went into ensuring that it looks great, but that's pretty much all the good there is to say about it. The plot is stale, the acting is poor, and the action is monotonous.
