Justin F (kr) wrote: It took me three viewings of this movie to realize the scope of what it is trying to say and what it is saying. This movie is a masterwork of Martial Arts choreography and wire-work, cinematography, color scheming, political commentary, theme building, character development, and narritive. All of those things by themselves can make a great movie but in this movie they are used in conjunction so brilliantly that they bring the film to the highest level of achievement. This movie is beautiful, puzzling, heartbreaking, and challenging. Watch this movie. If it doesn't make sense, wait a year or two, watch it again. Then wait another few years and watch it again.

ethan t (au) wrote: Wow, this movie deserves more credit. Ed O'Neill stars as Dutch, the main protagonist, and he wants to get to know his girlfriends son, Doyle, played by Ethan Radndall, and he goes to pick him up from his prep school, but then he notices the kid's a brat. And I almost NEVER say that, because I'm 11, so people could call me that, but this kid is rude, is a little of a snob, is stuck up, shoots Dutch with a pellet gun and, as Dutch says, 'Mashed my testes!' And Dutch decides to tie him to his hockey stick, put him in his car, (Which he lets Doyle up, but only because he fights it) and drives back ALL the way from his prep school in Georgia, to Chicago for Thanksgiving with his mother and him. And they run into a family, they have a hilarious fireworks show, they have to drive to a gas station awkwardly with hookers, (Nothing happens, so kids can watch) and travel back to Chicago, now I'm gonna make this review short, by saying, great movie, hilarious, and strangely shows you family....... Sort of.... Either way, it's a good time, check it out!

Andrew B (it) wrote: This may be the weakest Herzog/Kinski collaboration, but they were a pair that could never cease from bleeding perfect symbiosis (at least onscreen). The locations in this film are magnificent.

Amy M (jp) wrote: I enjoyed this movie. Great actresses in different roles than I'm used to seeing them in. I would watch this again.

Mike L (br) wrote: Ok I wrote to Rotten Tomatoes to fix the Movie Info section on this movie and they did nothing. The description of this movie has nothing to do with Red River and there is no character named Roland Thatcher in it. It is a great movie although plodding along at times. I have no idea what movie they were trying to describe however. IMDB has no characters named Roland Thatcher in their archive either. Maybe it is an inside joke at Tomatoes. The description certainly is.
