Sounds like it could be an exciting film, one that almost looked like a "Mad Max" post apocalyptic film. Well, not so much here. The film is in that genre, but not with the intensity, nor the explosions and action. This is more of a drama take on that idea, and it wasn't bad, I was just somewhat bored.Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson saved this film from a bad review. The performances they put forth are quite impressive. Although, I'm main,y impressed with Pattinson, he plays a mentally challenged man who is taken by Pearce's character to find the brother who stole his car and left his special brother behind to die. I wasn't aware Partinson had it in him to take on a role such as this, but I was impressed. The plot is simple, a man wants revenge on the man who stole his vehicle, and the on,u way to him is to take in his brother and find him. It's slow, it's quiet, the music is great but the pace of the film started off too slow. It does gradually pick up, but more so towards the end of the film when all the action happens. There's a few action scenes, but they aren't full of explosions or huge fights or gun play. It was a pretty laid back film, and I think that's why I got bored with it and slowly lost interest. In its own right, it's a good film, I like the idea, I liked the actors picked, and I liked the cinematography. It's beautifully shot, and the composer did an excellent job with the music and sound. I'm just not sure I'd ever watch it again, I saw it, I kind of liked it, but I won't be spending another hour and a half of my life on this film. Sorry Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, you just couldn't fully save the film. 3/5 JD

The movie has some gruesome footage, so not one for the kiddies or those with a weak heart...For the others, worth a watch, atleast on DVD

Wrangler starred in the first hardcore gay films made in the 70's although eventually switched over to straight porn. In the 80's, he met and eventually married a woman -- jazz singer Margaret Whiting. He got out of the porn industry early enough to avoid the AIDS crisis and transitioned his life fully to musical theater. It's a pretty fascinating story and was fortunately told before he passed away this Spring due to emphysema.

FSM is a no brainer. There is excessive penis and crude humor. Both of which is quite funny. There are lines a plenty including:"You don't need to put your P in a V right now.""No, I need to B my L on someone's Ts.""I was gonna, but then, um, I just carried on living my life.""Oh ok, I'll just go fuck myself then.""I can see your vagina from here!""Does the carpet match the pubes?"The puppet Dracula subplot is hilarious. Winning cast member is a tie between Paul Rudd's clueless surf instructor, Chuck and Russell Brand's crooning air humping musician Aldous Snow.

(kr) wrote: The story behind the restoration of this film is enough to astound me, let alone all the massive scenes they must have had to set up to achieve this film (for the era). Clearly a rich classic and well-humored...and Rudolph Valentino is a stud.
