(it) wrote: Absolutely horrible. Save your money. This was a 3 way bi-sexual melodramatic murder mystery made even worse by the excessive use of the orchestra at all the wrong times! Stay away. Stay very far away!!

(es) wrote: Wow. This was a powerful and moving film. Great performance by Kevin Bacon. I would like to believe that this reflected the reality of how people (civilians) behave when they encounter a military escort for a soldier's last journey.
(au) wrote: Its weird how this movie could made me hate the protagonist and ruined any enjoyment i would of had in this film. Screenwriters should have worked a little harder.

(kr) wrote: a nice film. a sad story. it plays well with human emotion - compassion, strive for justice and sorrow. quite clich, isn't it?

There's too many buttons and they're just- There's way too many just begging to be pressed, they're just begging to be pressed, you know? They're just - they're just begging to be pressed, and it makes me wonder, it really makes me fucking wonder, why doesn't anyone ever press mine? Why am I so neglected? Why doesn't anyone reach in and rip out the truth and tell me that I'm a fucking whore, or that my parents wish I were dead? Susanna: Because you're dead already, Lisa! No one cares if you die, Lisa because you're dead already. Your heart is cold. That's why you keep coming back here. You're not free. You need this place, you need it to feel alive. It's pathetic. Lisa: [falls down to her knees and screams] Susanna: I've wasted a year of my life. Maybe everyone out there is a liar. And maybe the whole world is "stupid" and "ignorant" but I'd rather be in it. I'd rather be fucking in it than down here with you.
(ru) wrote: Wow ow..what a grazy movie. And not in a good way. My copy had German subtitles so I missed a great deal. But the movie is insane...events unbelievable, over the top. Shahrukh Khan overacts once again. This could be camp... weird anyway :D
(fr) wrote: Quite embarrassing for Hulk Hogan to even star in this corny family comedy, but for that reason it's somewhat amusing.
(fr) wrote: Enjoyable stuff, with effective and slimy alien effects and a nice British feel that is absent from the vast majority of movies inspired by "Alien."
(nl) wrote: Not the best Cronenberg available mainly due, in my opinion of course, to lacking character development of what is supposed to be the male lead. However, the psycho-sexual gender issue portrayed is both highly disturbing (because of the usual, overly graphic, Cronenberg visuals) and confidently envisioned.

(de) wrote: And who said that Ingmar Bergman didn't have a sense of humor?Smiles of a Summer Night is a sweet little giddy movie from, surprisingly, Ingmar Bergman (who I consider to be one of the greatest directors of all time). This is also the the breakthrough success Bergman needed, as the studio told him that they would not finance his next film if Smiles did not perform well. Thankfully it did, and paved him a road with a sign that read, "total control" for whatever else he made there after (cue Seventh Seal).Smiles is a dialogue heavy, romantic comedy (funny how Woody Allan isn't that moved by this piece) about mismatched couples and how they all come together at the estate of a hailed actress who tries to set the course right for everybody, including herself. Bergman usually deals with themes regarding the human condition (depression, illness, confusion, etc.) and it can still be seen here, as some people question their love, some people question their life and others are just plain horny. It's all in good fun.

(au) wrote: The Spanish movie portrays Hypatia who was a Greek mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher in Egypt. She was the head of the Neoplatonic school at Alexandria, where she taught philosophy and astronomy. She was murdered by a Christian mob after being accused of exacerbating a conflict between two prominent figures in Alexandria: the governor Orestes and the Bishop of Alexandria. It's amazing she in the 5th century assumed the earth goes around the sun in an elliptical orbit which Johannes Kepler formulated in the 17th century but it's a pity Christians persecuted and executed her as a pagan and witch as well as they destroyed the Library of Alexandria which we can call a symbol of wisdom accumulated by that time. It may not be just because of a religious war but may be because of human nature as we are still suffering from discrimination and terrorism. I hope we will be free from such a vice someday and all the people live in peace regardless whether they are talented like Hypatia or not.
