Pan-Chicago, pan-ethnicity, family and generation romantic comedy providing a balance between spoof and sensitivity regarding stereotypes and 'what if' flashbacks while providing some goofy humor between Candy, Jim Belushi and Kevin Dunn. Ally Sheedy is pretty and coy but fairly stiff in playing the mortician's daughter while both Maureen O'Hara and Anthony Quinn play their passionate Irish and Greek comic stereotypes to the hilt. Candy does a very nice job in developing his character as a stable, loving yet stressed at-home adult son coming of age. Highly recommended especially for transplanted Chicagoans.
