Boccaccio '70

Four directors tell tales of Eros fit for a 1970s Decameron. Working-class lovers, Renzo and Luciana, marry but must hide it from her employer; plus, they need a room of their own. A billboard of Anita Ekberg provocatively selling milk gives a prudish crusader for public decency more than he can handle. The wife of a count whose escapades with call girls make the front page of the papers decides to work to prove her independence, but what is she qualified to do? A buxom carnival-booth manager who owes back taxes offers herself for one night in a lottery: a nerdy sacristan and a jealous cowboy make for a lovers' triangle. In each, women take charge, but not always happily

Lee M (it) wrote: Wag The Dog is an oft-hilarious, witty, scathing satire that represents four gifted if uneven artists (De Niro, Hoffman, Levinson, and Mamet) near the top of their respective games.

Michael S (us) wrote: Average romantic comedy with Kevin Kline (charming) and Meg Ryan (usual cutsie persona) that would have played better as a farce. Nothing remarkable; nothing offensive.

Rodney E (ru) wrote: Not as classic as An American Werewolf but is a nice mix of vampire horror and comedy

Thomas F (fr) wrote: Have always loved this movie.

Jennifer B (br) wrote: A surprisingly well-done film, with entertaining plot and humor that appeals to more than just the lowest common denominator.

Peter M (br) wrote: Second half of last night's double bill. Not Roger Daltrey's best performance. Enjoyable phallic romp element, generally pretty mindblowing, but probably not worth the bother. Not as good as Tommy, which is saying something. Features Ringo Starr as His Holiness the Pope. I still haven't seen the end of it. If I keep writing this I will talk myself into liking it.

Kevin R (mx) wrote: They don?t make pimps like they used to Truck Turner is a bounty hunter that tracks down subpoenaed individuals. When his job requires that he tracks down a pimp, the mission ultimately leads to him killing the target. The pimp?s predecessor, a female that takes over the pimp?s stable of hoes, orders a hit on Truck Taylor. Taylor will need to avoid being killed by the would be assassins and bring down a ring of pimps. ?They better learn to sell pussy in Iceland because if I ever see them in the area I?m going to cut their fucking throats.? Jonathan Kaplan, director of In Cold Blood, Brokedown Palace, Reform School Girl, Bad Girls, The Accused, Unlawful Entry, and Girls of the White Orchid, delivers Truck Turner. The storyline for this picture is fascinating and well delivered. The script is marvelous and the cast delivers worthwhile and entertaining performances. The cast includes Isaac Hayes, Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek), and Yaphet Kotto (The Running Man). ?When I call you I want you to shake your asses proper.? Truck Turner was part of the MGM channel?s August drive-in marathon. This film was better than I anticipated and Isaac Hayes was outstanding in the lead role. I found this action picture well presented and the characters presented perfectly. I recommend seeing this film at least once if you are a fan of the soul cinema action pictures. ?Pick up the god damn telephone you dumb bitch.? Grade: B
