Chris W (ca) wrote: Inspired by actual events, this is the directorial debut of Ami Canaan Mann- the progeny of the great Michael Mann. This is a police procedural about two detectives trailing a killer known for kidnapping and mutilating women, then dumping their bodies in a marshy area of Texas dubbed "The Killing Fields". Their case takes a turn when the killer decides to set his sight upon them. For the most part, this is pretty standard stuff. It's not groundbreaking, but certainly watchable. It looks great, and the cinematography is probably the best aspect. The cast are notable, but their performances are serviceable, but nothing more. The film is suspenseful, but it could have used a lot more visceral moments and action. Also, the presentation is fractured in its chronology at times, which I found to be a bit unnecessary. As far as developments with plot and characters, you get just enough, but even then, a lot of it is just standard stuff we've seen before. I give it credit though for at least keeping my attention, even if there's really not a whole lot that goes on. See it if you want, but it's fine if you don't.

Lynn R (nl) wrote: One of the best documentaries I have seen. Take 1 blind adventurist, 6 blind Tibetan teenagers and a host of guides, each with their own dominant personalities and send them up Mt Everest and you have almost 2 hours of total movie enjoyment. These teenagers are shunned and ridiculed by their Tibetan community, because of their blindness. So a blind German teacher, who has opened a special school in Tibet and Eric, a blind mountain climber, who has already scaled Mt Everest, decide to take them up 23,000, just below the summit of Mt Everest. These kids want so much to accomplish this, just to show themselves and others that they are worth something, that the setbacks are heartwrenching. I must see movie!

Chris S (au) wrote: This movie was just...HORRRIBLE. Extremely displeasent. It failed as a comedy and as a Sci-Fi horror film. Don't see this.

Kelsey J (ru) wrote: I loved John Wayne's character in this one, it was different in that he showed more of his vulnerability.

Dave L (fr) wrote: well shot, some heavy hitters for the interviews, Springsteen, David Geffen, Dave Grohl, the lower thirds for the interviewees the names is a good font their titling of who they are is horrible, very hard to read, Ugh.. They do tell the story. Great story about the Eagles acetate. The star interviews make the story, something above the normal, because you dont hear from these people all t he time, i.e Elton John. Great John Lennon audio spot for tower records. The key to a good documentary is story tellers, and thats what makes this a cut aboveThe people you dont know Heidi Cotler and Marl Viduoich are very good tooIts a little long, but a good story in summary.
