(au) wrote: Dark Blue" is easily the worst movie of 2003. With the worst script I have heard in ages and terrible acting by THE ENTIRE CAST this may even be the worst movie of the decade. With a back-drop of the LA Rodney King Riots it had great potential, but the characters were all such unbelievably BAD people that its hard to identify with anybody onscreen. It has plot-holes as big as double-decker busses. (Why does Sally stand by her man when she's just left him for being such an abominable person? Why do the cops versions of the shootings differ?) Also, two refugees from tv soapie ER does nothing to boost confidence in what is supposed to be a A-movie. Bad, bad idea.

(es) wrote: I am sure if we got a more complete story about Jerry Lee Lewis we would find it to be a lot more depressing but it would at least be more compelling. This story leaves out a great deal about Jerry Lee Lewis and his life. Dennis Quaid was good at capturing the lively stage persona of the rock legend but that(TM)s where the success stops. I was disappointed to see most of the focus on Lewis(TM) romance with his cousin. Quaid & Winona are pretty good together but this movie should have revolved way more music and a more complete story of the tragic fallout of his career. I think it is critical to tell the full Rock n Roll truth and not candy coat it by making a troubled and depressed individual into an untouchable legend. We do not fully come to understand this man or even his journey in this movie. This is a shallow biopic and it is sad not to get a better product than this for one of rock n roll(TM)s great pioneers. This should have been about Lewis(TM) wild spirit and the price he paid for his wild life.
