(mx) wrote: Wonderful story.. A very romantic movie and incredible flow of the story when the woman has no other choice but to marry a man in order to save herself. The love of both person began to appear as she getting to know the man little by little.. The "beauty of alcohol" shown in this movie really open my eyes why I dislike alcohol.. The ending scene should have been better..

Seriously, a straight up racing film from Cronenberg with a horrible 80's theme song. While the film certainly has a couple highlights its hard to admire by comparison to his later opus'.

My only criticism is that it contains one or two pointless dream sequence effects, in order to keep the viewer on point and remind them of certain plot-points. Overall, this is a really well acted parable, of sorts, on flawed hierarchy, oppression and freedom... but with an odd supernatural twist.
