A top surgeon is besotted with a beautiful woman who once ditched him. Unable to come to terms with life without her, he tries to convince her that they need each other. She has other ideas, but an horrific accident leaves her at his mercy. The plot is bizarre and perhaps sick at times, ending abruptly and with a twist.

(kr) wrote: Oddsac is an experimental film. Know that before going in.There really is no narrative here. The film is a fantastic experiment in the combination of music/sounds and visual imagery. Sure, it is difficult to sit there for an hour watching imagery, but if you can make it through this one, you will feel some interesting things. First of all, I found it interesting how the sights/sounds actually made me feel things physically. During tense moments, I would feel myself getting more tense. During calm moments, I would feel more at ease.My favorite moment of the film was a sequence of pure static. At first it was annoying, but after a couple of minutes, I was legitimately hypnotized. I have never been hypnotized, but I now know what it feels like. It was out of body. Also, this is an example of the best Animal Collective music out there. Period.

(br) wrote: A powerful, uncomfortably confronting Documentary about a Father & Son who seemingly run a computer tutoring business but are molesting & attacking all the students. The whole family is extremely dysfunctional to its core & it's a real tragedy to see it reoccur due to unresolved sexual abuse. This is not an easy watch but is a compelling study of evil in the unlikely forms. The film uses a lot of home footage of the family itself running into the trial. It's cry dark but a fascinating Documentary!

(it) wrote: A pretty bad movie all in. The only thing that makes this at all watchable is the fact that its a Christmas movie. Ben Affleck is just terrible- painful at times to watch- the rest of the cast (Gandolfini, Applegate, O'Hara) kind of makes up for him but keep Affleck away from comedy. The story is also lame (A lonely successful man pays the sullen owners of his childhood home to let him spend Christmas with them). Despite all the mediocre this did give me a couple of big laughs, and I suppose the whole being with family and money can't buy happiness is in keeping with the season too.12.13

(it) wrote: This is a classic submarine movie. It's based on a fiction book based on the United States submarine war against Japan during World War II. They used only the basic concept from the book for the movie. The author of the book complained that they only used the title of the book. The movie is set in 1943 but starts in 1942. Clark Gable plays a submarine Capitan even though he is way too old to play the part. Clark Gable was almost 60 years old when he made this movie. Even Burt Lancaster who played his executive officer was too old. Lancaster was in his thirties but World War II submarine captains were between 25 and 30 years old. Submarine duty during World War II was almost a suicide mission. That's why only volunteers were allowed into the submarine service. The movie uses actual Navy equipment for realism. At the start of the movie they show Clark Gable's submarine being sunk and then he's on the surface with his crew floating in the water. That's not really possible. When a submarine sank everyone usually died. After that it's a good story. It's such a good story they used it in the first Star Trek episode "Balance of Terror" and the first Star Trek movie. Robert Wise directed both this movie and the first Star Trek movie. Every Star Trek fan should watch this movie. The movie doesn't mention the problems the Navy was having with its torpedoes during the first 20 months of the war. The American submarines were one of the critical technologies that allowed the U.S.A to win World War II. There are several scenes of the dials on the targeting computer spinning. Those analog computers were very advanced for their day.
