Boys and Girls
Ryan and Jennifer are opposites who definitely do not attract. At least that's what they always believed. When they met as twelve-year-olds, they disliked one another. When they met again as teenagers, they loathed each other. But when they meet in college, the uptight Ryan and the free-spirited Jennifer find that their differences bind them together and a rare friendship develops.

(de) wrote: Kurt Russell is superb (no surprise there), Ray Liotta is convincing...but Madeline Stowe just comes off as wooden. She just delivers all her lines like she's reading them off a teleprompter. It was very hard to get around it when it took up the entire movie. I wanted to like this more. Hopefully a remake will set things straight.

It's like your typical mispent youth put on the right track by strange unconventional man with strong ideals who believes in them. Like stand and Deliver, only this is not based on a true story and at the end they kill everyone instead of taking the SAT.

An original (and dark) look at post WWII in Japan, the defeat and the consequences on the lives of a bunch of prostitutes surrounded by G.I's and a Japanese soldier who intend to become their pimp. Cinematography and dialogues are stunning! Disturbingly and shockingly brilliant.
(kr) wrote: Holy crap this was awesome! An early horror comedy, maybe the first zombie-comedy (well, Ghost Breakers had one zombie in it, so I guess its a close call). Hilarious throughout - the character Jefferson Jackson was downright amazing in nearly every way. Timing was impeccable and the subject matter was right on. I would love to see this remade (and I already started casting - so far I have John Turatatino as Dr. Sangre and Renee Zellwegger as Barbara Winslow, but who could fill Mantan "Shit, if this is gonna be that kind of party, I'm gonna stick my dick in the mashed potatoes" Mooreland's shoes?), but anyone who has seen this knows it could never be remade without some major changes. Definitely a period piece (the subtle anti-German propaganda really isn't so subtle), but it still retains everything it was trying to do all these years later. Two military men crash land their plane on an island in the Caribbean. An Austrian doctor lives on a plantation where he has many servants. Later it is shown they are actually zombies as he works closely with an island priestess to control them. Definitely a buyer!
(fr) wrote: Besides of course John Wayne, two other movie legends got parts in the B western series The Three Mesquiteers. One was Jennifer Jones and second in this film was Carole Landis. After whole bunch of bit roles, Carole got the female lead here in Three Texas Steers. Right after that she got signed for her breakthrough role in One Million, BC with a 20th Century Fox contract to boot. Here Carole is the owner of a circus who all of a sudden runs into streak of horrible bad luck. Due to lot of accidents her circus has to fold and she retreats to her ranch. It's a pretty broken down place, but fortunately the one piece of good luck she has is the fact that The Three Mesquiteers own the neighboring ranch. The boys are bit oafish in this one and Max Terhune manages to get himself swindled which nearly puts them all down the toilet, both the Mesquiteers and the Landis spread. Of course things work out all right in the end as Carole finds out who's behind her bad luck and why her ranch is so valuable. Carole Landis had lot of beauty and lot of talent in one package. It's interesting to see her at this point in her career, before she went totally platinum blond. Too bad she and the Duke never got to work together again when both were A list stars.

A little bit scary but the story is amazing, it's about family value, how you need to appreciate everything that your family does to you no matter how lack your life situation is, they're the best/truest people you can get. ^^
(de) wrote: his movie is a long mix of awkward sex scenes and "comedy". It's long and boring and concludes with a moral that you can see coming for entire movie. This movie is a no on my list.
(us) wrote: More entertaining for the younger audiences than older, Space Jam tries to mimic the 1988 classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit by blending live action with animation but falls minutely short despite some laughs it may generate and a fun cameo from Bill Murray.
