I mean, as a period piece, they TOTALLY get everything wrong, costume wise, but look at how much follows the conventions of a noir, and you'll find quite an original piece of filmmaking. All the actors are very good, and the direction is certainly tight. It's the cinematography, editing and music that makes this what it is though. A very good reccomended film if you're into the subject.

Ellen Drew is adorable. I wish to make her my wife. Why are such things impossible?
