Break Out

How far would you go to recover a cigarette lighter? A pulsing mix of hard-hitting action, wry social commentary, and black humor, director Jang Hang Joon's Break Out takes a simple premise and spins it into a spiraling film experience. Penniless and slothful Bong Gu (Kim Seung Woo) loses his cheap lighter in the Seoul train station washroom, and it falls into the hands of gangster leader Chul Gon (Cha Seung Won). Bong Gu, determined to retrieve his lighter, follows Chul Gon to Pusan, but the task turns out to be a lot more difficult than he had imagined.

Gonalo B (es) wrote: As extraordinary as it is captured, I felt that it builds up and leads to nothing. Great cinematography and genuine emotions are shown on screen, but maybe a diferente editing would change it from a good documentary to a memorable one.

Bloodmarsh K (ru) wrote: Had me enjoying myself right up until the end, when we get a second twist, which wasn't nearly as good as the first twist - nor was it needed. Stephen Moyer did a fine job, as well.

Pavan R (es) wrote: A good story and plot with a good cast avd direction makes it a good entertainer.

Carrie S (ru) wrote: Should've known better but took a chance. Gave it a whole star vs. 1/2 for its unintended comic appeal.

Johnny S (ag) wrote: A surreal but often metaphorical glimpse into the lives of three generations of one Hungarian family, each with their own perversions. Delivered as a black comedy, some scenes are as intentionally uncomfortable as their subject matter, exploring pointless greed, bestiality, and lust for example. All find their way into the portrayed society, unquestioned as the film rolls smoothly through each man's life. The subtle statements run underneath the absurdity as each illegitimate child of the Balatony family strives and fails to fulfil the distorted dreams of his father in the bleak backdrop of a fading Soviet grip. An excellent film and not easily forgettable.

Adam R (gb) wrote: Not the best way I can think of to end the series, but I still really enjoyed it. I just don't understand the decision to not have Gordon Bombay coaching the Ducks. Other than that it was fun and entertaining. (First viewing - Late 1996 in theaters)

Kristina K (kr) wrote: after I had rented that movie I was afraid of watching it because I expected a bad b-movie - I love vampires. surprisingly Dracula captured me immediately! because it is only "based on" Bram Stoker's Dracula I didn't have any problems with the fact that there are characters missing or added. the whole movie was pure fun. Marc Warren as Dracula was sexy for me, even the wizened-greenish-before-I-drank-blood-Dracula succeeded in transferring a sex-appeal (later: black hair and blond breast hairs - unbelievably great). Sophia Myles who I know from the vampire series Moonlight was great, too, and looks very sexy in vintage dresses. luckily there is no disgusting splatter. the actors are very good, Van Helsing is just sweet. There is a pinch of erotic and some shocking moments. one time I even screamed although I never do that when I watch a movie alone. very often I got goose bumps (sometimes erotic, sometimes horror, sometimes because of monumentality). a very impressive movie! ps: in my family I am infamous for the fact that I like movies which nobody else likes. They just touch me.

Robert G (ca) wrote: I am a fan of gangster films, so this comedy sounded like something I would like. Michelle Pfeiffer is great and carries this movie... your typical 80's comedy with a mob twist.

jason h (jp) wrote: overall Teachers is a good movie, that could have been great. The main problem is the director/screenwriter or both could never decide what kind of movie they wanted to make. drama or comedy, commercial or subversive, teen film or serious melodrama. the acting is evry good. Nick Nolte and judd Hirsch are excellent as always, as well as Morgan freeman as the school attorney.Don't discount Ralph Macchio or Crispin Glover. Both are in top form. A pleasurable movie that could have been much more

Don S (br) wrote: Big fan of the NFL and this movie gives you a taste of the draft process from the point of view of the general manager of the Cleveland Browns. The fact that I really enjoy the two leads, Costner and Garner, didn't hurt my enjoyment either. The downside to this type of story is lots of talking heads scenes, which director Reitman tried to spruce up by shifting backgrounds. The fait accompli was too unbelievable, bringing the grade on the movie down for me.
