Possibly not my kind of movie or maybe I was missing something but I didn't enjoy this at all and was bored throughout. I actually came back here to Flixster to check that I was watching the same movie as everyone else. Yup I was. Geoffrey Rush does do a fine job as Australian piano prodigist David Helfgott but honestly I was more impressed by Armin Mueller Stahl as his abusive, insecure father and Noah Taylor as adolescent David, who portrays the moment of his mental breakdown after preforming Rachmaninoff's technically demanding Piano Concerto No. 3. Now that was a good scene even if it's left a little unclear as to why and what happened directly afterwards. 04.05.14

The Critic (gb) wrote: This consistently amusing remake of 1970's Neil Simon-penned Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis caper showcases the differing comedic styles of stars Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn. Theoretically, the pairing shouldn't work, but the couple's obvious fun with the material is nothing short of infectious. And whilst this may not rate as either of their best work, there's enough lough-out-loud moments to carry the day, with John Cleese stealing the show as he channels one of his most famous roles from 'Fawlty Towers' (1975-1979) here. A resounding failure amongst critics and cinemagoers upon release, but 'The Out-of-Towners' is still worthy of attention.

Martin T (nl) wrote: This is religious fanaticism handled in a way that Westerners could never do... in America, it would probably be a broad comedy, along the lines of Dogma and the like. In Devi it's done much gentler, with sensitivity and beauty. The musical score is outstanding.

DC E (jp) wrote: "Chaos Theory" 10 Scale Rating: 4.5 (Below Average) ...In two weeks, I won't remember that I even saw this. Ryan Reynolds plays Frank, a man completely obsessed with making lists. In fact, his entire is planned out to the letter via a series of them. One morning, thinking she was setting the clock ten minutes forward, his wife accidentally sets it ten minutes back. This causes Frank to have to abandon his lists and thus causes a series of unfortunate events that change his life.It starts out interestingly enough, but Reynold's charisma can only take it so far. Eventually, it becomes a boring movie with a storyline that is barely plausible. I wish I had more to add, but there isn't much else that can be said ... heh.

Clapperboard Y (mx) wrote: As a fan of the Dr Seuss book and the 1966 cartoon, I found this unsubtle, over-the-top adaption of the classic to be exceedingly grating and offensive. Jim Carrey does a great job managing the latex suit, but his performance is annoying, the script does a rather slow job at following the book, and the few jokes are too crude and adultish for a supposed "children's" film - let alone a Dr Suess story!

charles s (au) wrote: This movie is very cheesy, it seems like sorority row relied a little too much on nudity and gore effects, i guess they thought that it would cover up for the movie's cliches, cheesiness, and lack of suspense or tension. Even though this movie isn't scary, it has some comedic value to it, the acting is so bad, that some scenes that were intended to be scary actually turned out to be funny.
