After taking the pills for a few days, he starts to notice that he is gaining super powers like telepathy and the ability to walk through solid objects. Special is an interesting mysterious film which keeps the audience guessing for the first half as to whether these side effects that our main protagonist is feeling are actually real or not. Its fits into the pseudo-superhero genre much like James Gunn's SUPER in that its a gritty tale. The film is rather reflective, as there is a lot of internal monologue but it never is as powerful as it could have been. Thematically, Super is about one's desire to be special in the world as we know it. We watch our protagonist grow self esteem and self-worth in a way that is unique and fresh although I still don't think the film is dramatically heavy as it thinks it is.

Ian M (br) wrote: This movie has been slated by some, but I thought it was brilliant. It kept me guessing throughout and it's concept is great. Guys waking up without any memory and not knowing who is hostage and who is kidnapper? Ace!

Nadine G (nl) wrote: Just like most other Bollywood movies, it sucked! Personally I didn't see why they had to use footage from 911 in this movie. I didn't care for it and the times I have seen this movie, it pisses me off. Frankly, the idea of Arpit having surgery to look like Aman and then re-doing the surgery to look like himself again at the end of the movie is dumb. All Bollywood filmmakers should take a class in film making and learn a thing or two about their careers!

Steve W (it) wrote: The acting is turned to 11 in some cases, from Glenn Close's narration to the drawl of Jeremy Irons, but this courtoom thriller is interesting enough with its themes of morality vs the law and the like. The movie was directed by thriller director Barbet Schroeder and she makes things interesting, if sometimes over the top soap opera like moments flow in. The fact that this is based off a book is rather disturbing, but it lets us get a glimpse into the lives of the wealthy and an incredible performance by Ron Silver makes this a decent drama.

Eric H (gb) wrote: Joe Pesci plays a slumlord who is forced by court order to live in one of his own tenements. You'll never guess what happens.... He bonds with its nutty, stereotypical minority inhabitants. Wow, who'd thought that would happen! The biggest question this film raises is: Why on earth could have possibility possessed Oscar-winner Joe Pesci to follow-up "Goodfellas" with this awful film. Simply by looking at the dismal final project it is safe to that script wasn't any good. Did they expect director Rod Daniel to save it? If they did, they were terribly mistaken. The only compliment one can pay this film is to say that Ruben Blades didn't disgrace himself, which is more than could be said of Pesci, who gives a shrill, one-note performance. Pesci can provide effective comic relief in serious films, but, "My Cousin Vinny" notwithstanding, he isn't very funny in comedies.
