In 1818, high-spirited young Fanny Brawne finds herself increasingly intrigued by the handsome but aloof poet John Keats, who lives next door to her family friends the Dilkes. After reading a book of his poetry, she finds herself even more drawn to the taciturn Keats. Although he agrees to teach her about poetry, Keats cannot act on his reciprocated feelings for Fanny, since as a struggling poet he has no money to support a wife.

An amazing story and a beautiful ending that teases the next chapter of what promises to be a great Spin-off franchise. Brilliant acting by a great choice of actors. Although some more development before the final confrontation was needed to make this the perfect wizarding-world movie.

If you can keep an open mind and just watch a film for the sake of its story, it's worth sitting through. It's clearly low budget and I had never seen or any of the actors, but for what it is, I enjoyed it. It was a nice change from all the negativity that dominates most entertainment. It'll never be my all-time favorite movie, but it's worth seeing.

(kr) wrote: My goodness this film was not very good. The casting was horrendous. I could see why Patrick Dempsey had to disappear for a while before coming back to the big time as McDreamy in Grey's Anatomy. I would say this film sank Richard Grieco's career but I had to remember it was Richard Grieco. The only saving grace for Mobsters was seeing a young Lara Flynn Boyle get naked a few times. However, the acting was horrible, the historical background was extremely inaccurate (they got all the names wrong for one), and the pacing of the film was horrible. Do not waste your time.

(us) wrote: Beautiful set design and camera work, poor story and plot. A pair of women are brutally assaulted and murdered, and their shape shifting ghosts prepare to attack any samurai they can find by luring back to the place of their deaths. The husband and son of the two ghosts is then hired to stop what is going on in the forest, and the plot quickly slows down to a crawl. I lost focus in the narrative and I did not enjoy this ghost story.
(kr) wrote: Average programmer to fill the bottom of a double bill with Jeffrey Lynn his usual dull blank slate in the lead. He actually gives the film's worst performance not helping the meager story in the least. Somehow they managed to wrangle Oscar winner Donald Crisp into a brief appearance, his last onscreen work for three years-of course if this was the quality of stuff being offered no wonder he took a break, he's far better than this run of the mill junk deserves. This real interest and the only reason the film is sought out today is for the presence in the cast of Marilyn Monroe and to a much lesser extent the Skipper, Alan Hale Jr. Marilyn very much on the way up, her billing is far more prominent than the small part she plays would rate for anyone else, would play a few more minor roles like this throughout 1951. Within the year though she would be a minor star and within two a superstar permanently moving beyond this kind of routine assignment. She looks beautiful and handles the minimal demands of her secretary role well enough but she has a total of no more than five minutes screen time.

It wanders a bit, and indulges in some self-obsession, but the movie is strong. Also, Chantal is among the most evil movie villains of all time.Bresson is the anti-Bergman. He asks important questions, but without concluding a nihilism he's inevitably already assumed. Great work!
(gb) wrote: Excellent movie with 2 excellent actors. The typical Tony Scott suspense is majorly at play throughout the movie. The dialogue is phenomenal here. There are back and forths here at play between Denzel and Gene. It's truly acting at it's very best. With tensions high between Russia and America, and Nuclear tensions high, the 2 men aboard the nuclear submarine go head to head when the main submarine radio goes out before the main orders or whether to launch nukes at Russia. What happens next is a ship divided and extremely tense moments aboard the ship. Should they launch or should they? It's fun to watch what happens and the acting along with it's phenomenal dialogue is what makes this an exceptional film and an immediate recommendation.
