It's funny watch this now because Henry Cavill has gone on to become a mega star thanks to Superman. He's actually pretty entertaining here. The lead (Katheryn Winnick) is off and on. She does a good job at first, but then about half way through she started hamming it up big time. I don't know if it was intentional because of the material or not. Her screams made it seem as if she was joking around and not taking it seriously, almost like this was a comedy (it was funny, but I don't think that's what the director was going for). I can say that at least this movie was different than the 3 prior. Thank god, too. I was worried we were going to get another twist where the characters were dead the whole time (which they even joke about [you know the series has gotten bad when the characters are that self aware]). The twist was interesting, even though it left some gaping plot holes. Namely, why did the two surviving characters have the same dream? When they get pulled out of the hole he tells her he promised her a sunrise, but if that's the case they would have to have the same dream. Whatever. No sense in putting too much thought into this. If this movie had a bit of humor to it and hammed it up a bit more, it probably would have been more entertaining. It's a pretty cliched horror movie, following more along the lines of something like Night of the Demons. Truthfully, I'm glad though. The mystery movies and pseudo-crime dramas or Jacob's Ladder wannabe movies were getting old. This was dumb, but I would rather have dumb entertainment than watch something forgettably boring. Can't recommend for anything other than seeing Superman really early in his career. That actually makes it pretty enjoyable to see how far he's come since.
Brad B (au) wrote: Not a bad movie. James Caan walks through it pretty much but what do you want from a made for TV movie. You can even tell where the commercials were supposed to go.
