The saddest aspect of this film is that they actually put a lot of money and resources into assembling a decent cast with some quality sets, and had real potential to make an intriguing and engaging movie about prospects for human space travel. But instead, they flushed all that down the toilet with a plot that steals rehashed themes from Alien and other real movies, and made the whole thing about zombies. You can't even credibly call this a "sci-fi" movie, because the only fiction is that this movie has anything to do with science fiction. It was physically painful to watch as much as I did before I started skipping ahead and finally quitting it. I hope no one else suffers through this horrible mistake of a film, and I hope all of the humans who actually worked on it learned some serious lessons about what type of films NOT to ever make again.

Charlie Sheen made a suprising addition to this adventure movie when Heidi and her friends are forced to escape into the swiss alps when a deranged Child Slave Maniac is hot on their trails determined to keep the girls from returning back into Switzerland. It's a definite must see.

A classic Hollywood melodrama set in romantic old Vienna and handled deftly by director Max Ophuls, who keeps the usual violin chorus down to a discreet tone, allowing for a full feeling of how romance blossoms and then is carried with one. A heady potion for this chick flick about sacrifice, yearning and denial that's as close to fine wine as you'll get.Joan Fontaine and Louis Jordan embody the mood wonderfully.

One of the things that makes this movie work is the exceptional acting performance from Brad Davies which makes the main-character very easy to sympathise with, but also the solid performances from both Randy Quaid and John Hurt. As a result of these incredible performances the viewer is fully indulged in the hardship and misery that is the Midnight Express story. Hats of to Alan Parker, Oliver Stone and Billy Hayes for this incredible drama based on real events.
