Buddy Goes West

Trinity series star Bud Spencer returns to the Wild West in director Michele Lupo's comic tale of an outlaw drifter, Buddy, who is mistaken for a doctor after his Indian companion inadvertently steals a bag of surgical instruments. Hua M (nl) wrote: 0/5 from me. The most vile, inhuman, sick abomination I've ever, and will ever see in my life. It makes the 2010 Spanish film Kidnapped look like Teletubbies. I usually like twisted horror/psychological thrillers of this kind, but this one went too far and made me want to do what the main character does at the end of the film.

Tobias M (ru) wrote: Heavily cliched and lack of direction, the film is watchable and has good moments especially Woody Harrelson's performance, however the story is all over the place. Time moves quickly and then slows down, with Bale going in and out of jail, I feel this could have been directed better as it felt disjointed. There were too many things trying to tie into a neat package for example Bale's ex partner now being pregnant to the sherif. The bare knuckle fighting just seemed harpooned in, I couldnt believe Affleck would make that transition. Even the casting was abit obvious, I like Dafoe but how many times have we seen him play this role in an independent US film. I think with afew less ideas and more of a direction for Bale the lead character this would have been a better film.

Liam M (ca) wrote: A bit of a black sheep in the cult musical genre, but so much god damn fun! On par with its much more famous older brother in terms of sheer inventiveness and campy joy.

Edgar C (it) wrote: Part 1 of the Lone Wolf and Cub series, known as "Sword of Vengeance", which literal translation reads: "Child and Expertise for Rent". A sublime masterpiece! Yojimbo (1961) left a tremendous legacy behind and it was precisely in the brutal 70s where exploitation grindhouse flicks were at their peak, slicing every human being in feudal Japan. Grabbing influence from Sword of Doom (1966) and completely forgotten action-oriented samurai movies like Tokuz Tanaka's The Betrayal (1966), the first entry into a prolific and long-running samurai saga is a bold feast to watch, with western elements, gorgeous shots and Wakayama as a tremendous future star whose looks are definitely not what they seem. Amazing storytelling.98/100
