Wayne C (es) wrote: This is about as useless as any film I've ever seen. The cast, which is what attracted me, does what they can but are lost in the pointless darkness. The photography is as dark as the subject matter and treatment. The plot is a convoluted mess. I've liked David Morse in the past, loved the late Cory Monteith on GLEE, and Mike Vogel is a new favorite as featured on UNDER THE DOME. Rule-of-thumb: Anytime a director has most of his major cast smoke cigarettes on camera, he just doesn't know what else to instruct or guide them to do. All three mentioned above smoke throughout the 100 or so minutes that seemed like three times that. I sat through the entire thing but can't recommend that you do so for any reason.

Erik W (nl) wrote: A great historical movie, well shot and well acted for the most part although I wonder what got the producers to cast Charlton Heston as 'Chinese Gordon'. Personally I would have cast Gregory Peck or Richard Burton in that role but that's just me. Laurence Olivier gives a great performance as Madhi, but rarely does Olivier give a bad performance. Great Musical Score by Frank Cordell. Definately a film for historical people and film fans.

Bradley W (es) wrote: Bad all around. When Hollywood stops trying to make movie versions of old, classic tv shows, I will be one happy viewer. The normally hilarious Ferrell could not even make this one somewhat enjoyable.

WS W (mx) wrote: Quite alrightee, formulaic though.

Rick K (ru) wrote: Combines a classic, traditional western, with a tough yet dry-humored John Wayne, a good plot, and a neat insight into the famous 'Billy the Kid'! Also fabulous scenery.
