(de) wrote: Wow people are kind of being harsh on this. In terms of special effects and setting, they did a very good job. What they screwed up on was character development. Too much action and not enough time for the little stuff. Character development makes a big difference, it let's the audience know you. They went too fast. Also it didn't make sense for super-strong Drona to be fighting on par with the wizard dude, who is opposite of super-strong...

The wealthy live in the upper levels and the less fortunate live out on the lower levels and the streets. The wealthy send out troops beyond their confines to get supplies they want and other luxury items. Eventually, John Leguizamo has had enough and tries to extort Dennis Hopper so Hopper has to find a way to save his city. Thought this one is no where near the original Dead Trilogy and those movies should mostly be left as is. Eventually, the stories left to tell aren't as interesting as those. Probably the best of the newer Romero movies, but that is not saying a lot.

(ru) wrote: Wanted to like this but it just drags way too much and ends in a very meh way. Visually it's interesting but but very shallow plot, and Guy Maddin would make much better films later on although it shows his start of changing his style more and more into a more faux-silent film style.
(jp) wrote: It's a charming movie with hilarious moments and some meaningful moments scattered throughout even if it's cheesey and cliche through a lot of it as well. Not sure why Francis Ford Coppola did something like this but it's interesting to see on his resume.

(ca) wrote: 4.5 out of 5 starsI have always gravitated toward artists, writers and film makers who aren't afraid to push boundaries, not, mind you, for the sake of simply doing so,but rather with the intent of stretching us in ways that make us uncomfortable, that force us to reason, re-evaluate our predilections and ultimately grow. I love that. This movie is right in the centre of my wheelhouse. It is controversial, potentially quite incendiary yet beautifully, delicately and sympathetically shot. So much to think about with this one - what happens when we lose all of the societal elements we use to identify ourselves like memory, family, name? How then do we come to define ourselves? How will others come to define us? - I'm still pondering it over a day later.

Vivien Leigh and Claude Rains give incredible performances. The script is pretty good. Gabriel Pascal did a great job directing this film. I enjoyed this motion picture because of the drama. Caesar and Cleopatra is a must see.
(br) wrote: This wasn't exactly like what I had imagined, but I feel it was a decent movie to watch, although it felt confusing in some areas.
(nl) wrote: Well this proves Sylvester Stallone is losing his voice. This movie is pretty much telling us moves directed by an actor can be good. A movie to sit back with your popcorn and have a good time.
(jp) wrote: Enjoyable and silly, this movie has enough action star fantasy square offs to make any fan salivate. Jet Li vs Dolph Lundgren? Steve Austin vs. Stallone? etc etc. Deep. dark, and deliciously violent, the plot is hardly relevant, but everything violent is surprisingly satisfying.
