(br) wrote: Another heartwarming tale from the Vidhu Vinod Chopra stable of Family Entertainers which is sweet as saccharine, clean as Kleenex and tugs the heartstrings throughout its run-time. Raju Hirani shows his stamp by his humor laced dialogues though he should have used his scissors more freely. The on screen father-son duo of Sharman Joshi and Ritwik Sahore alongwith Boman Irani pull off memorable performances but its Ritwik who has the best layered author backed role and sinks his teeth into it deep to come out with out with a gem. It does get too sweet and simple but then its escapist cinema and is excused though the overtly filmy ending and 20 minutes too long duration dampens the approval ratings for this film which had the capacity to be so much more. Sachin Tendulkar plays an important character without being there and that's a masterstroke by the writer as you are left looking out even after the credits roll out thinking he would come. Sharman in his first solo starrer does enough to make you cringe at his over selectiveness considering his Resume has films like Rang De Basanti, Life in a Metro, Sorry Bhai etc. and would love to see him more. Lovable characters, interesting premise, dialogues with a heart in the pros and diabetic sweetness, filmy ending and reel length issues in the cons, I would go for it, how about you?
