Yash B (br) wrote: It's an entertaining movie that's family friendly. I haven't read the book but as a movie it is enjoyable. I wasn't completely on board with how it ended but I enjoyed the movie. It's fairly unique in the world on young adult adaptations.

Riccardo G (ca) wrote: 2 stars for fantastic art design, visual effects and a good use of music ques. 1 extra star for a story that was pretty decent.

Rick A (au) wrote: I just don't know. Sayles, I usually like his movies, and Chris Cooper is good in anything he's in. The rest of the cast is interesting. but the movie itself, meh.

Kyle M (us) wrote: It's a nice, also sad, tale of an 80s classic that'll lift your likeness to the film at the spirited end. (B)(Full review coming soon - with better wording and requires another viewing)

David H (ag) wrote: The best part about this movie occurs at the end when he shoots the women in the ass with the tranquillizer gun.

Jayakrishnan R (it) wrote: 85%This film is more action packed than the sequel and it's a bit too good than it. But this film can't beat the sequel in slapstick. However Jackie Chan is still a great actor.

CJ C (nl) wrote: I saw this once as a kid & I was rolling on the floor laughing. Its so bad, its good lolz. With Tom Baker & Donald Pleasence.

Stuart K (es) wrote: Hammer goes East!! This film, the last in their long running Dracula series was a co-production with Hong Kong's Shaw Brothers Studio. But, they couldn't get Christopher Lee to return, so they took the focus off Dracula, and onto his arch-nemesis Van Helsing, oh and alot of Kung Fu action. It is trying to cash in on the kung fu films of the time, it makes for an odd combination, but it's alot better than it sounds. It begins in 1804 with Count Dracula (John Forbes-Robertson) took on the appearance of a Chinese taoist monk. 100 years later, Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) is in Chongqing, giving a lecture on Chinese vampire legends. No-one believes him, but Hsi Ching (David Chiang) does, and he asks Van Helsing to come to his family village to rid it of it's legendary 7 golden vampires. They go with Van Helsing's son Leyland (Robin Stewart), the student and his six kung-fu trained brothers, and one sister, the journey is funded by wealthy widow Vanessa Buren (Julie Ege), oh, and the vampires are being controlled by Dracula as the monk. :P It's a silly film, and the combination of kung fu and vampire horror is as silly as it sounds. But it's actually a good Hammer film!! It's well made and brilliantly shot. The kung fu action is very good, but the horror feels forced. It's fun while it lasts though.

Bradley R (au) wrote: This film is to India what A Better Tomorrow was to Hong Kong. It starts off corney but then it picks up so well, it actually loses the campiness. Amitabh Bachchan is a terrific actor. This movie was actually the first question in the fictional Millionaire show in Slumdog Millionaire.

Curtis H (us) wrote: I loved it when I was young. Now I know the story and the music to be beautiful, but the film-making has a charm suitable only to children. The colors are a little too lurid, and doesn't drive home the reality of the beautiful story line. Danny Kaye, is, as always, amazing.
