He calls on John Lawrence, a reporter, who joins the professor in Scotland to help observe and report on this phenomenon, leading to contact with one of the alien scouts who appears on Earth. Edgar G. Ulmer's The Man From Planet X is an incredibly low-budget alien adventure which pulls off a lot of good atmosphere, especially considering the lack of funds. It's endlessly creative, particularly for the time, and features a profound idealistic type of science fiction. Ulmer challenges the viewer to question whether the Alien is at fault for what ensues or rather our own aggressive and selfish attributes as mankind, as seen through Mears' intentions.. It's a slower paced alien film, which relies on script and imagination to convey mood and say something about humankind as a whole.
