Caged Heat 3000

It's the year 3000 AD. The world's most dangerous women are banished to a remote asteroid 45 million light years from earth. Kira Murphy doesn't belong; wrongfully accused of a crime she did not commit, she's thrown in this interplanetary prison and left to her own defenses. Geoff B (nl) wrote: An MGM college football musical done in Technicolor...found it just ok...not a real big fan of musicals...only watched it because I like June Allyson.

Tim H (de) wrote: It was VERY ordinary until an incredible ending pulled the whole thing together. Highly recommended for any grindhouse fans or anyone looking for a good euro crime experience.

Dougal S (ag) wrote: Cat O'Nine Tales was Argento's second real foray into the word of Giallo and although it shows the beginnings of the stylistic touches that would see him placed amongst the greats of Italian cinema, it lacks the punch of his later works. The story revolves around a blind puzzle maker (Karl Malden) who, along with his young niece, is the unwitting witness to a murder at a private research hospital near his home. With the police failing to take his evidence seriously he teams up with a hard bitten journalist (James Franciscus) to try and track down the murderer themselves. The killer has realised someone is on his trail however and begins a cat-and-mouse game with his pursuers, despatching anyone he feels is getting too close to the truth. It is, in reality, a relatively perfunctory storyline raised only by some flamboyant set pieces. Argento's stylistic vision is apparent but it can't hide the lack of real tension in the script. The cast are perfectly adequate, with Malden turning in a fine performance, but the characters are bland and one-dimensional. Sloppy pacing means that it drags in several spells only to have the final denumont and revelation of the killer tossed away as an almost hurried afterthought. The murders are less graphic or inventive than Argento's usual fare, save for the final demise of the killer - giving the feeling that the set piece was dreamed up first and then a film tacked on to bring the action to that point. In spite of all that there's still much to love in this film. The sets and locations are stylish, beautifully lit and the camera work has the distinct style that would go on to permeate Argento's best work. He makes the most of the moody, night time exteriors and as usual shows off Italian architecture to great effect whilst Ennio Morricone provides a subtle and assured score to underpin the mood of the piece. Some scenes do succeed and are manage to raise the tension but they're too few and far between to carry the film.Fans of the genre will enjoy it but if you want a first taste of Argento then go for something like Deep Red or Tenebrae to see him at his absolute best.

Y aunque la pelcula no cumple lo que el ttulo promete, el gran talento actoral y los giros sorpresivos que culminan en un tercer acto lleno de accin, hacen de esta pelcula de propaganda un espectculo ms que entretenido.
