Conrad T (au) wrote: Movie started as if it was about the lucky or funny life of a kid, turned out to be a hidden secret. Yet a bit boring as it tried to drag through 90 minutes.

Joe C (kr) wrote: This is a great little doc about a kid from Jersey who sets himself himself up as an Indian guru just to prove how ridiculous faith leaders are. In the process though, he manages to connect with his "followers" in ways that he couldn't have predicted. There is a LOT hear that speaks to the real value of faith, and to what it really means to be connected to one another. Grade: A-

Darren H (us) wrote: Now this is my kind of history film. Reminiscent of Victor Erice's Franco-Era Spirit of the Beehive, Machuca focuses on the effects of war and deep political divide on young people. Using a Louis Malle-esque grayish-green palette, Andres Wood paints a heartening and real portrait of youth growing up in a muddy, chaotic world ruined by adults who are simply bigger children.

Sherry O (kr) wrote: Rate 5.5- Slightly rotten. Well..hmm. I don't know what was really the deal with this. They tried to create a lame/confusing story in the beginning and then just said f' it. After abondoning the story there were some decent soft-porn scenes and some interesting images. The movie should have just cut out the attempt at a story and jumped into the freaky. The music was also great.

If you're a fan, Feldman is fun to watch (and if you're not, you'll likely never be. He doesn't seem to engender a lot of middle ground) and longtime character actors Jack Nance (think David Lynch films) and Sarah Douglas (tons of fantasy/horror) take decent turns as well.

Meghan S (de) wrote: While the actresses didn't do an amazing job, the actors did, the script is so-so, however it is a very important event I feel that people need to know about and has not really ever been spoken of. I didn't even know this ever happened. Because of how violent it was, I don't think I'll ever see it again, but it definitely was worth the watch.

Jessica L (jp) wrote: The whole idea for the plot really surprised me, hence, making this a very captivating film to watch. I was annoyed during the middle when Goodwin refuse to tell Colter what happened to him, therefore, Colter had to find out himself within the source code, wasting precious time. But I guess that is part of character development and to avoid revealing Colter's true form. I really enjoyed the movie, though I am displeased at the attempt to create a happy ending because I think it violates logical sense. If the end continued on living in the world of the source code, what happened to Sean, the body Captain Colter Stevens is in?

Andrew O (jp) wrote: Revolutionary, funny, and heart-wrenching as it may be, it fails to stick the landing convincingly, throwing the whole thing into a spin. But they probably wouldn't want it any other way.
