Still, it was worth a few laughs, if only to hear those funny dubbed cantonese expressions that I haven't heard in ages, e.g. "Don't dismantle my signboard", which the movie started with. It's a lot funnier in canto, than the translation suggests :)

Jayakrishnan R (it) wrote: Viewed this on 31/10/14Witness for the prosecution is a mind blowing court room thriller, I wouldn't call it a drama, well marked by tremendous performances from Charles Laughton, Tyrone Power and Marlene Dietrich. It's a shame that Charles Laughton did not not get top billing for a film in which he actually stars. I saw this film just when I was fed up watching horrible the acting of James Stewart in films like Vertigo, now I got a chance to see what the real acting in those days may look like. This film has a lot of pretty bomblastic twists and turns and culminates into an unbelievable ending.
Ben D (ca) wrote: Certainly a lot of fun, with twists and turns galore. Because it has been much imitated since, some of these twists now seem a little obvious. It has a great beginning, a little flabby in the middle and the end rolls by with very witty one liners and a lot of shock. A good little number.

Eric C (ca) wrote: Some of the steampunk stuff sprinkled throughout the movie is kinda neat, but otherwise not worth your time. Feels like a bad lipreading video - much of the dialog doesn't make any sense or is oddly timef, the plot dangles by a thread, and all of the characters are unlikable.
