Roxanne R (kr) wrote: ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR FOLKS!! This National Park is home to over 1,500 plant and animal species, Yosemite attracts more than 3 million visitors from around the globe each year. Known for its steep granite cliffs, impressive waterfalls and the world's largest living trees - the Giant Sequoias -. We follow a professional rock climber in his quest to reach the summit to El Capitan (3,000 foot rock formation). A license is not required to climb this challening rock formation- free to anyone but novices should not do it!! Typically it takes FIT climbers 3-4 days, the protagonist did it in three days with cameras following him. We also see a team from UC Berkeley studying the Sequoia trees- massive and the tallest trees in the world..! The aerial shots of this magnificent landscape are breathtaking and watching this stunning documentary on a 55 inch HDTV adds to the thrill and joy. Moreover; stories are shared of hikers that wanted to reach another rock formation back in the mid 80's but thunder and lightning took place ( Peak current intensity is of the order 10 to 100 million volts of electricity; the average about 30,000 amps. Energy goes into light and heat with temperatures about 54,000 degrees Farenheit, 6X hotter than the sun.) Needless to say the hikers sought refuge around some rocks but two died immediately from the massive electric shock; two others were in critical condition. The fifth hiker kept moving around so he endured minimal damage. Sometimes Mother Nature can be brutal so its vital to study the weather patterns prior to hiking at Yosemite or spending a few nights. Overall you will be mesmerized by this remarkable documentary on Yosemite National Park- a cinematic triumph and highly recommended!

Regi H (ru) wrote: Martin Campbell brought us Casino Royal about 10 years after this movie. Did he like tortured or something over that period of time? This Bond is pure fun. Its got the one liners, its got crazy over the top action sequences, and its got one of the most funniest villain deaths in film history! Pierce Brosnan's bond brought charm to the table not much more, I really think its the direction that made the movie great, considering Pierce lost all of his charm in the next 3 snooze fests.

"The Doc" Character Was Great, "How Am I Expected To Identify These Motherfkrs If They Can't Keep Their God-Damn Dog Tags!!?" As He Sits Next To A Headless Solider...It's Funny, But It's The Insanity Of War.

One morning he is informed by Inspector Guilboud(Jean Rochefort) that his grown son, Bernard, is suspected along with a woman named Liliane of killing a factory owner, Razon, the previous night. They are now the subjects of an intense manhunt. Meanwhile, Descombes has little idea as to why his son would commit this act and can only hope that his son is not killed by the police. At the behest of a journalist, he broadcasts a radio appeal to his son to turn himself in."The Clockmaker" is a straightforward and simple story, told mostly from the father's point of view, thus highlighting the difference in generations. The movie is about the effect of crime on family members and other people on the periphery. It also serves as an early critique of media manipulation. All of which is held together by a quietly powerful performance by Philippe Noiret.

Richard D (it) wrote: It's not quite as good as "Our Man Flint", but this one is still a lot of fun. Usually Bond spoofs are self-deprecating ... they make fun of the genre by depicting master spies who aren't very good at their job. That wouldn't work for James Coburn. In the Derek Flint films, the joke is how awesome he really is. That's Coburn for ya.

Akash S (de) wrote: This 1919 German silent film has to be the earliest queer film I've seen. This, along with two other films made in Weimar Germany - 'Michael' and 'Sex in Chains' - stands as landmark in queer cinema. The movie is really ahead of its time; from the story treatment to the informed way of handling the theme of homosexuality, many countries can learn how artists of ages past (this one almost a century ago) have tried to tackle such subjects with grace and their own unique style. Many might be get annoyed by the long expository monologues, but considering the time and the intention of the film, it's completely understandable; movies have the power to enrich. The film was adapted decades later in Britain - 'Victim', and the sad thing is that in countries like India, where such law sections are relevant even till this date, such a theme hasn't been explored properly on screen. I've always believed that informed exposure to a subject is a giant step closer to understanding and acceptance of it.The actor Conrad Veidt who's the lead in the film becomes a star with his next year's film , 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari', and even has a small role in 'Casablanca' as a Nazi (funnily, he fled from the Nazis to England).Overall, interesting story and brilliant treatment.
