Selwyn L (us) wrote: An interesting but rather unsatisfying French movie featuring almost voyueristic observations of a family and their behaviour when the movie producer father faces financial difficulty and then tragedy strikes. What was missing for me was greater insight into the thinking and motivations behind the behaviours that would have lifted it towards more absorbing cinema. The general approach and style reminded me of another French movie I saw recently entitled "Summer Hours" which meandered through keenly observed minutiae but didn't amount to much in the end.

Leon B (au) wrote: Memento has one of them moments were it's back to the middle or back to the start half way through the movie. Guy Pearce plays a man by the name of Leonard who has short-term memory loss, but sort of knows his way around how to get what he wants and that's the person who killed his wife. Great movie.

This movie is unlike Chow's collaborations with John Woo in that it isn't poignant, it's just pure action and cheese (there's even a training montage! With a Hong Kong power ballad!). When you're out of Woo, Ringo Lam is a good alternative.
