There were certainly some parts where I wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but overall it was well composed and very funny. It was certainly over the top, but that's obviously what they were going for -- and they executed it perfectly!

Guido S (us) wrote: Should have been better, but as an attempted comedy of Rear Window with random film references thrown in, just really feels incredibly amateur at times despite the quality of the cast and crew. Isn't really funny, and there is no suspense when you can see everything coming a mile away and it takes forever to get there.
Victor M (ru) wrote: A film about USA, its myths, its habits. It could seem a film without a structure but there are some issues in it like politics, women, success, losers.Greta final scene with a song with a simple but unforgetable phrase "it don't worry me".

It's obviously a showcase for John Derek, but he's not incredibly memorable--he's a little too polished to play a rough slum kid. Bogart on the other hand is able to carry the film--his speech at the end is proof of why he's such a beloved actor. The rest is just your standard "gritty" crime drama, including a ridiculously evil District Attorney.

Some good stories that intersect well on an ocean liner in 1930 leaving Mexico headed for Germany. Lots of illusions that show you these people had little idea what was going to happen in Germany. Interesting if not a bit heavy.
